The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Hi guys,

Hoping someone can help me. This weekend I've been going through STEP to mod Skyrim. After each section I ran BOSS and ran the game to make sure there were no issues. This morning I finally got to the end, ran BOSS and the game and it worked normally.

Then, I installed some of my own choices for mods:

Mods added after STEP:

Better Dynamic Snow
Better Sorting
Birds of Skyrim
Book Covers Skyrim
Cloaks of Skyrim
DFB Random Encounters
Ethereal Elven Overhual
Faster Vanilla Horses
Helmet Toggle
Player Headtracking
Realistic Ragdolls and Force
Slightly Dangerous Legendary Creatures
Whistle

After installing all these I ran BOSS and ran Skyrim, the game instantly crashed to desktop. So I thought ok one of those must be conflicting with another mod. I uninstalled them 1 by 1 testing Skyrim each time, it still crashed after I uninstalled ALL of them.

So I started going backwards with STEP, uninstalling the mods from the last section "Gameplay" in reverse order, and testing Skyrim.

I have now got to the end of "Gameplay", all of the mods uninstalled, and Skyrim STILL crashes to desktop. What the hell is going on here?

One thing to note is that Nexus Mod Manager crashed while I was installing or uninstalling one of my "personal choice" mods after finishing STEP, could this have caused an issue?

Rather annoying after having spent so much time following STEP and now it's not working, should have made a backup after STEP was complete -.-

BOSS does not report any errors.

Any help please?

Open NMM and on the plugins page go through each .esp and check that you have the Master files it needs. Make sure any Master files are loaded before the .esp that needs them.

Remove ENB if you are using it.

Just did something similar, I disabled all the .esp files via the launcher, and the game didn't crash. So enabled them 1 by 1 and found that it was the "Book Covers Skyrim.esp" file causing it. The mod was disabled but esp file still there. Can I manually delete .esp files, if so where are they?

I'm now at the stage I was before with STEP finished and it runs. :)

Thank you

Great thanks :) Next step RealVision ENB :P

edit; Just loaded my save and saw this graphics bug, it's like a rectangle hole in the ground, any idea what could be causing it?

By the way this happened before I started modding with STEP, I was hoping that it was a mod issue caused by my previous mod setup but guess not.

Here are some from my game. I don't use a fancy ENB, or even the very best textures, but it is good enough for me:)

Most of the mods I use are game-changing, or settlement mods tbh.

The game is very stable now, which is the main thing, as I had real troubles getting it to run without crashing every 5 minutes with the mods I wanted to use, but safety load, ENBOOST and the other one have sorted it all out. 20 hours without so much as a stutter, let alone a crash! I am still messing about with AA, as it isn't quite right yet though.

PS. Excuse the different sizes. Not used Imageshack before, and was messing about with it!

Ive been using the Opethfeldt7 ENB for the last few weeks and it is good but I wish you could disable the weather.

I thought I would give the RealVision ENB a go as it always seems to be nice and sunny :)

I was right, outside it does look really nice and crisp but i'm finding interiors not so good. Surfaces seem to have a wet/shiny look to them which I find very unrealistic and breaks the immersion.

Open the ENB GUI (Shift+enter normally) or in enbseries.ini disable reflections. I think that gets rid of the shiny stuff.

New ENB v0.250 with atmospheric FX mist.

Works a treat, improves framerate too!!!

clicky spoilers for images.. New install with no mods other than Real Like ENB and hardware AO on.

I've been trying to find a way to remove to the fog from Opethfeldt ENB. That does look better though in that shot, not so 'grainy'.

I might install skyrim again and test out my new MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming Edition! I've been running skyrim on a 660 that's not even a ti :D

I say do it Neil. I've once more got mine exactly where I want it. 150+ mods now, all textures 2k and 4k. The game now is just stunning, I wish more game devs would open the games for the modding community.

Took a few random snowscapes early on today, don't know why, not that exciting. But something about the look just told me I had to screeny them lol.

Got caught in a blizzard
