The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I flat-out do not understand how people will go to great lengths carefully setting .ini files and graphical mods to make the game look ever more immersive and realistic, and then go and stick a ridiculous mod like that on top of it all :confused:

I get that the game has talking cat and lizard-people, dragons and magic so of course it's not supposed to be completely like reality, but I couldn't play the game with the characters looking like that... It's just so stupid and looks completely awful

But anyway! Update on my situation - it seems like perhaps it was all just a coincidence. At one stage my weather mods were:

CoT + Weather Patch + Supreme Storms + Minty's Lightning + Random Thunder + Real Shelter

however, the combination of Minty's Lightning and Random Thunder seemed excessive as they were both trying to add thunder + lightning at the same time resulting in a lot of overlapped sound effects and just too much going on. So I de-activated Random Thunder but it must have left a script running or something which was messing with things. If I wait for a few in-game days it eventually corrects itself :D

it is pretty amazing what the skyrim community have added on to an already impressive game. i was dubious of the game at first and i was overawed when purchasing it, and now to see the improvements that others have made, i regret not buying it initially!

Yeah, the community have done some amazing things for this game.

I regret not buying it a lot sooner tbh. Because I don't really do RPG's, I didn't bother until fairly recently and only took a punt when it was sale for about £6 based on seeing a few GFX mod pics.
Really regret not getting the legendary edition for about £12 at the time due to not even being sure that I'd like the game... Live and learn eh? :D

Come on Uncle Rufus, don't be nasty with my girls :(, got a few more screenshots for you ;)

I have been trying out 2 mods that improve frame rate, Low Res Particles Project - LRPP http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53692/? and Skyrim Performance PLUS http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6387/? and they been working very well and can recommend them :)

I think the problem your having with mintys lighting mod and immersive thunder is they work on normal weather id's and COT has edited ones so they can misfire a bit, i use them but the enb i am using uses vanilla weathers and they work great :)

Ps i threw a screenshot in without a fit bird to balance it out a bit 0_0

Sorry but you won't convince me... I personally don't really see a problem with the default female body meshes - but "fit birds" or that aspect of the game is not really what I'm playing for in the first place. Even if I was I feel like those changes are just far, far too extreme and they make any scene with a female character in look totally ridiculous and it would harm the entire experience for me as a result

As ever the good old "flipside" argument - would you play the game with a mod that makes every male character have a ridiculously oversized huge trouser-bulge that's so massive in relation to the character mesh that you might mistakenly think there's 2 characters there from a distance? It'd look ridiculous and add nothing to the game, same as this mod

If you like it then fair enough, you can play the game however suits you :) - everyone has different tastes after all

Sounds plausible, although I thought I had installed a patch which claimed to add support for the CoT + Supreme storms... Will keep an eye on it - I think now that immersive thunder is de-activated it seems okay so fingers crossed. I'd prefer not to switch ENB again at this stage as I've got everything pretty much tweaked and how I want it (using Serentiy ENB)

Ps i threw a screenshot in without a fit bird to balance it out a bit 0_0

And it's the best looking one (in my opinion) ;)

You have SKSE 1.7 installed and the memory settings in skse.ini?

[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

Using an ENB with correct settings in enblocal.ini?

uGridsToLoad is at 5?

If you're using ENB you can lower the shadow settings quite a bit and the detailed shadows will still look good.
I've downloaded the SKSE 1.7 installer and run it.

I've created a folder called SKSE and then created an SKSE.ini file in it and added the following lines:
[General]
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

[Display]
iTintTextureResolution=2048
I think that's right but it's confusing, what's the point of making an installer package that doesn't even create an SKSE folder? :confused:

Also I have looked in the enblocal.ini file and there's no option for uGridsToLoad

Hi chong, see your having trouble with skse. From what i have been reading the memory managment is not working properly anyway and would recommend installing SSME http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/?. Pop that into your skyrim folder and leave it at default settings and your good to go.

I use skse beta version and SSME and in my enblocal ini i do ReservedMemorySizeMb=512 and had no problems with crashing or infinite loading screens

Sorry chong didnt read your post properly but i recommend SSMe
For the ugrids you put it in your skyrim ini in the my documents/my games/skyrim folder under general

[General]
sLanguage=ENGLISH
uGridsToLoad=5
uExterior Cell Buffer=36
fFlickeringLightDistance=8192

Thanks I'll give that a go see if it helps.

I've tried the others and after playing the game for an hour it stuttered to a halt again. When I come out of the game it said my system had run out of memory again and ENB something or other had stopped working. The GPU monitor showed usage never went above 2gb and this card has 3gb. System has loads of spare memory, about 5gb, so not sure what's wrong there.

The FPS was better though, averaging 30-40fps outside and 50-60 indoors most cases :)

Mine was set to
uGridsToLoad=7
uExterior Cell Buffer=64
fFlickeringLightDistance=8192

I've changed it, will see if it helps further.
