The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Its gonna be one of THOSE days :D

Oh my this gonna take a while i am only lvl 7, the buggers gone and broken whiterun, after i stopped laughing at them fly up into the sky with the guards i realised i gotta kill them now :(

Does that crossfire fix help SLI? I'm slightly struggling with 2 680's superclocked getting around 40fps with 60+ inside caves, cities and buildings etc.

Should I try the ENB fix first and then load in the mods slowly?
Game looks great but the slow down is a tad annoying.

Have you tried using different frame rendering methods with Nvidia Inspector? I had SLI briefly and if I remember correctly I found Split Frame Rendering worked well with Skyrim. Few different options I think so give them all a try.

Will try frame rendering mode 2, hopefully it helps, however does it still detect it as SKyrimlauncher.exe when using SKSE as the setting is applied directly to exe?

Wonder if one of you gents could help me. I've decided to do a new playthrough of Skyrim using SkyRe and I have Immersive Weapons and Armour installed too. I've used the ReProccer to create the patch and all that jazz but the weapons from Immersive Weapons are not scaled up to SkyRe levels.

As you can see in the screenshot the Antique Iron Sword, which is an Immersive Weapons weapon, hasn't been scaled up and is very lacklustre having only a third of the damage of a Pickaxe.

Any idea why? I'm not sure if it's just Immersive Weapons that has been affected like this. I also have Unique Uniques, Immersive Armours and Warrior Within Weapons installed, but I haven't seen any of their content to compare.

Fixed it through a little trial and error. Seems it was due to an incorrect load order. I switched from BOSS to LOOT and that sorted it correctly.

On an unrelated note, it seems like following my re-install the game is less stable than I had it before - I get relatively frequent CTDs with no error whatsoever. Seems to mainly happen when outside in the main "Skyrim" overworld and maybe my imagination but seems to happen often when on horseback (though not necessarily when riding along fast)

I had a quicksave earlier where game CTD'd a few seconds after I quicksaved and if I reloaded the save it would happen again at the exact same moment every time... Eventually I got around it by quickly opening the menu when I loaded the save and doing another save, then it seemed to be okay for a bit

Any ideas where to start trying to track this down? Is there any sort of profiler/debugger I can use to get an idea for what is happening internally when the CTDs happen? I tried using the papyrus save cleaner and although it reports a lot of warnings etc. using the basic clean doesn't seem to make a difference

Did you enable papyrus logging? It should contain a record of what was happening immediately before the crash.

More here.

Thanks for that - seems useful, although all of that guys solutions pretty much boil down to "start a new game" which isn't too encouraging

I've played some more and it actually seems okay - hasn't crashed for me in several hours play so I expect it is just caused by some random script instance or a sound effect or something that only happens in certain places... Can usually be got around by reloading a few times

Just trying to decide who to side with in Dawnguard - am I right that if I fight against the Vampires I can still become one and mess with the Vampire perk tree at the end of the DLC?

Finally got my Skyrim sorted over the weekend, and I have to say using Mod Organiser over NMM is such a joy. There are a few mods that don't 1-click install with MO (automatic variants for instance), but they are simple enough to set up.

I feel I am far more in control of my mods now, and no more worrying about trashing your Skyrim directory with a bad mod. Obviously it cannot help if a mod decides to screw your save with bad scripts, but such is the fun of modding Skyrim.

I now have a little over 150 mods all playing nicely (so far), and after a play of around 10-15 hours over the weekend, I had 2 random CTD's (both entering/leaving an area) which I can live with.

It does have a higher learning curve, and the whole overwrite/overwritten policy system can seem confusing at first, but stick with it - it will make your Skyrim experience so much more enjoyable.

Just on my second playthrough, added mods this time, and i have returned to winterhold with the staff, and as i go into the main hall for the fight with ancano, it seems to have developed a problem. i cannot cause any damage....yet i can take it. when i leave winterhold and return again it is the same problem, i have reloaded just before that part of the game and same problem when i arrive.... just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem, and which mods they removed to fix it!

Do significant conversions exist for Skyrim now? By that i mean:
- less generic dungeons
- more unique items/quest rewards
- remade fetch/skill quests
- more quests

Someone, please put me out of my mysery. I'm happy with the mods I have, but something, and I have no idea what, is causing this:

Repeating ground textures... Anyone got any idea? I've removed all mods and the textures still repeat. Is it an ini option?

Can you use a command to kill the target? Kinder cheats the fight, but will be the quickest way?

Looks like you have no Anisotropic Filtering (AF) applied

iMaxAnisotropy=16 in SkyrimPrefs.ini

Perhaps you turned it off in game launcher and graphics cards settings with the intention of using ENB to force x16 AF? :)

No ENB chap.

I forced AF through nvidia control panel, and it's turned on in game. Also, present in ini files.

Also AF doesn't have anything to do with texture tiling, only stopping the textures looking blurred at very low viewing angles (unless I'm mistaken)...

If you're using a mod which replaces the grass texture perhaps the one it replaces it with doesn't tile very nicely? Uninstalling mods doesn't necessarily revert all their changes (i.e. if they have overwritten a texture file uninstalling the mod may not replace it with the original again)

Well, I'm using MO and when I run vanilla, the tiling is still there... Really got no idea what could be causing it.
