The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Could just be something you have to live with... In most places in the game the environment designers ought to have covered it up relatively well by placing shrubs and grass and other objects to help distract your eye from the repeating pattern in the texture itself...

I sometimes spot it myself in the snow textures on the sides of the mountains from a distance

I tell you what, I'm really liking it now I've added the Realistic Lighting Overhaul mod. Night-time in the forests and away from light sources really are pitch dark, and whilst it doesn't help with seeing any enemies it does add to the realism.

Just need to remember to carry a torch at all times.

Yea, I only noticed it once I got mods installed. I will try and run pure stock Skyrim tomorrow and see if it's there. If there is a mod doing it. I will find it lol.

Just a couple closeup character shots. Showing the sexy side of my dragonborn :p and the others, don't ask me why, just really liked the light at that particular time of day.

They are some really nice screenshots, love the women in it.

Ugh! This really wants me to fix my game, am thinking am having memory problems since I saw some guards walking around in purple armour... then it crashes.

Think I will uninstall some visual mods and see what happens, dying to play this game and fed up modding it. lol

May I ask for those to be in a spoiler tag? I browse at work and I don't particularly want to scroll past a bunch of semi naked (mostly naked) female game characters. Whilst I appreciate the modding skill behind it, it's not really my cuppa. Nevermind having to avoid it in a professional work place.

Thanks

I second this, I was on the shuttle bus to work and had colleagues behind me who may have questioned... :p

its skin dude, nothing naughty on show, behave yourself everything is covered lol but hey ho, doesn't matter if its behind spoilers just incase.

Now if I was to take a nude pic with her doing something from the prostitution mod and FNIS then yes I can understand the concern. If people are offended by naked bellies, arms or legs in a videogame, then its time people need to never open their eyes

Don't be naive Tony, can you really not understand what about the images above might raise eyebrows? Especially in these days where everything has to be so politically correct and not seen as discriminatory/sexist/etc in the workplace

Not to mention the fact that for a lot of us it's bad enough as it is if an older colleague notices you play some fantasy dragon game in the first place - doubly so if they then think you get some kind of a kick out of some polygonal boobies (for the record, not my cup of tea either really, as I've said previously in the thread)

Also the images should be spoiler tagged anyway as per the forum rules for larger/wider images ;)

hence why I did spoiler it when I put the post up. ;) thx

and seeing as you seem to want to take on a mod job, feel free going over every thread letting ppl know to spoiler tag the wider images as per forum rules ;) ;) ;)

You didn't... you edited it that way after reading the comments above

It was just an extra point in favour of spoiler tags, there are plenty of moderators already

I've just reinstalled Skyrim for the first time in months, as I'd noticed this thread and wanted to mod it and see what I could do to get more life out of it...

The only changes I've made so far are the ini file changes recommended on Page 1. But I'm getting really annoying bugs.... Every time I go indoors, objects either continuously rattle or fly across the room and while outside if I switch between views I get flickering, a sort of grinding sound and then a water splash every time.... Any ideas?

Thanks for that - seems useful, although all of that guys solutions pretty much boil down to "start a new game" which isn't too encouraging

I've played some more and it actually seems okay - hasn't crashed for me in several hours play so I expect it is just caused by some random script instance or a sound effect or something that only happens in certain places... Can usually be got around by reloading a few times

I assume you're using SSME/SKSE 1.7 beta? I try and avoid reinstalling if I can so much can go wrong... when I got Skyrim all modded up and stable I made a backup of the entire Skyrim folder... all 19gb of it. Yesterday after not playing for a while was suddenly getting random CTD's and couldn't loot bandit corpses, doing so would result in instant CTD. Tried everything, delete mods, cleaned save, nothing made any difference. So I deleted the entire Skyrim folder, copied my backup over in its place and hey presto everythings hunky dory again. A 2nd PC I have access to occasionally it crashes like a good 'un still havn't figured that one out yet...

Someone, please put me out of my mysery. I'm happy with the mods I have, but something, and I have no idea what, is causing this:

<snip>

Repeating ground textures... Anyone got any idea? I've removed all mods and the textures still repeat. Is it an ini option?

Thats just the way textures are, you'll notice it in other places too, each texture surface area is a square and if there is a single texture applied to repeating sections that what you get... it pays to avoid long straight views like that if you're a modder, break up the vista, or try and use different textures to break it up, not so easy in a setting like that though.

Yep I'm using 1.7 beta. I do have a backup of the entire Skyrim folder but I can't really revert to it without disabling the DLC, as I previously only had the Vanilla game working nice and stable.

On the plus side my game seems to be running okay at the moment, so hopefully the regular CTDs I was getting before were just a symptom of a script hanging around or similar as the re-installed and re-ordered mods sort of settled down

Thanks for the info on the repeating textures. I think, as you say, I'm just going to have to get used to it :(

Right, I now have another issue...

I've got maybe 30 or 40 mods installed, mostly texture, but a couple are armour/weapon mods.

My girlfriend has started playing Skyrim and played about 7 hours on her char over the week last week. She got home and booted up her gaming PC I built her and went to play Skyrim. I forgot about uGrids and guided her through adjusting them to match mine so her cloud save wouldn't crash.

All works well, BUT, she is missing a bunch of stuff.

She has done some research into modding and has Mod Organiser setup. I'm just thinking if I could simply copy over all of my mods to USB (minus HD textures as it's a good but not top end PC) and simply install them all. I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work, but is there anything I should keep an eye on?

I'm also going to replicate my ini files just so both my PC and hers are in line so she can play on either PC.

Or, the other option is I select a vanilla profile for her on MO and she never played with mods, but she doesn't want that as she hates the default menu system (mouse and keyboard player)
