The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Is there a mod for fixing the look of distanced terrain?

I climb on top of a mountain to be rewarded with a beautiful vista.... For about one hundred feet beyond that it's like a Lego world created by a blind child. Really ruins immersion for me at times.

Cheers.

Try the first page of this thread, there's a list which has been kept updated, look for mods to do with "distant detail" or "lod" or "distant terrain" etc

Without doing some more serious (and risky) mods it can be hard to get it absolutely perfect, but it certainly helps

Guys please take your time to support this mod!

Looks like you got the new mod Downpour installed (i think), i had the same problem, i just uninstalled it

It's quite old now to be fair, but it seems STEP Mod 2.2.7 has broken weather. I'm 140 hours in and I've only ever had sunny skies, unless I force a thunder storm using Minty's Lightening Mod.

So I've just bought the Legendary DLC, what's the damage done to my mods, which ones are going to need re-installing looking at the standard set, Realistic ENB, 4k textures etc?

You'll have to go through each of your mods and see if they have DLC versions available. Took about an hour to go through each of my 50ish mods and check, deinstall and install the new versions.

Once I start a game, I never change or edit mods, unless it's a simple case of removing a texture. I have ~150 mods that are all tweaked to work with eachother - if I were to install another DLC now, my 150 hour save would be as good as lost. Skyrim is amazing, but the downfall of such a big complex game is the stability, especially when modded.

Anyway, to answer your question, we need to know which mods you have. If the majority are texture mods + an ENB, you'll be fine. Scripts etc are the biggest save killers.

Seeing all the fancy modded pictures I didn't realise this game runs rather happily on low end system including my laptop, would've picked it up a lot sooner if I'd know that :D

Same for me, I bough Legendary on top of around 100 mods and I pretty much de-activated and re-enabled each mod in the proper order, as well as seeking out any patches or alternate versions designed to work with the DLC

On the one hand this is sensible and certainly the safest option, but I don't think altering mods on an in-progress save is quite as doomed to failure as you suggest. I had a ~100 hour save when I redid all of my mods for Legendary and it's been fine. I did backup my whole Skyrim folder first just in case I needed to revert to a "known good" configuration but I didn't have to in the end

Perhaps a better rule would be try not to be tempted to add lots of new mods (especially scripting ones as you say) that you didn't have before (at the same time as re-applying everything)

Thanks for this post with the video - so much information in these posts, with this thread being 3 years old to look through. Glad I found it by going through the last few pages.

Been a while since I played Skyrim a lot, tempted to get back into it, but using a lot of the mods that have been created for enhanced game play.

Probably going to start somewhere, by having a look at this. Any other suggestions people can offer for beginner modding?
