The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Thanks! Since resurrecting my Skyrim game and sorting out a new batch of mods my game has been stuttery and slightly annoying. This has helped a bit.

I did not know this - going to try it myself later... My game generally runs pretty good anyway but I'm curious if it will give me even better performance outside

They're generally OK but can cause a poor performance, but user texture packs run smoother I have found + look better anyway.

For anybody interested (Will be adding this to the guide).

I will be adding some ENB comparisons, and judging them on exterior/interior and performance hits with the mods added to show everyone which one might suit them better.

Also I will be playing around with mods like SFO, Grass, Water to see which work better together to give best performance (they already do, but fine tuning doesn't hurt!), after finding that SFO is quite performance draining & Skyrealism - Grass does a great job in the same places, it made sense to disable it for now.

^^^^ Sounds good and hopefully when my monitor arrives tomorrow it will be good enough to keep and play the game on (first and second monitors have been returned).

Look forward to the comparisons etc.

Looking forward to this Reaper, there are so many EMB variants that can all be tweaked so much it can be a bit overwhelming trying to choose one.

Well I've made some progress. Getting rid of those HD textures has worked pretty well. There are still a couple of slowdowns at times but it is much improved.

A few things need to change with the lighting I think. I've got a really annoying occurrence when I'm hit with a fire spell of attacked by a fire dragon where the lighting effects go all dark for a period of time. So I pretty much cant see anything.

A few more mods now:

Has anyone here bought the legendary edition after already owning the standard game? Just wondering if your saves will still work with it and if you have to start the achievements again?

I doubt they will ever lower the price of the dlc so i'm going to be forced the buy the legendary edition if i want to finish the game off.

Try disabling Ultimate Fire Effects and see if you get the same results, seems to be the only mod that would cause that.
Nice the see the list progressing.

I made my guide just after buying legendary for the DLC and re-modding the game, all my saves worked fine.

Yeah, cheers Reaper. I did suspect that mod. I'll disable it tomorrow night when I have some more time.

I have the same mod installed and doing some testing on other mods, if I get the chance I'll see if I get a similar effect.

EPIC FAIL

Just realised why my grass was so broken, I have had 2 versions of SFO installed, basic and Alpha 2.0, however Alpha 2.0 was under the name of 'hi-res pines version...' so I never noticed it!
Surprised MO never picked it up...

Old Broken Grass:

Fixed Grass for now:

Plus the above make's a lovely windows background. :D

I've not played this for a couple of weeks, and now when I try to launch it's opening the Window for half a second and then closing and I'm back at desktop.

I verified game cache via Steam and it re-downloaded 6 files, but no fix.

Any suggestions?

Have you got any MOD's lurking around?
Would try a delete and re-install if not, if you do have mods, disable them all.

I currently have about 130 mods installed with MO and i'm wondering if there is a way to backup and restore all the ENB gubbins in order to use different ones in different MO profiles.

At the moment i have RealVision ENB installed and as far as i know the only way to try different ENBs is to delete all the RealVision stuff and then install a replacement.

If you disable Realvision in MO, the main ENB files remain in the Skyrim directory ready for the next installed ENB to use, I will be testing these soon if you want to wait to see the results of a variety of them.

If using different MO profiles, you can leave Realvision enabled in the other and install the new ENB under a different profile, and then load that one, it will ignore the other profiles and just use what is in the current profile.

Quite a powerful tool for mods.

It's all the shizzle that gets put in the main Steamapps/common/Skyrim that troubles me. Each ENB uses different settings in enblocal, enbseries etc. as well as different versions of ENB itself. AFAIK the only way to switch between ENBs is to manually replace those files, its not something that can be done by MO or NMM etc.
