shadows are fixed in the skyrim .ini files , not in mods.
 
go to your skyrimprefs.ini (usually in mydocuments/games/skyrim folder)

Look for the 3x entries with iShadowMapResolution and change all their values to 4096 or higher depending on your GPU.

Also try altering iBlurDeferredShadowMask value to blur the shadow edges.

fShadowDistance speaks for itself. set to 16000 if you have a good PC, lower it to 2000 or 4000 if your pc is struggling.

slightly OT but while you're here..

When I play I usually have nights set to pitch black with the only lights coming from torches and whatever roadside lamp mod I have installed.

Alter the settings with fLightLOD to suit, I usually set them really high so I can see city lights from across the map.

Ok so thats no better, maybe something here is wrong. You know when I start up and game through Nexus MM. It comes up with the name of the ENB top left and info, but after that it does say -

Patch Speedhack turned on in ENBLOCAL.INI Graphic mod disabled ! , so I went to the Enblocal.ini and changed usepatchspeedhackwithoutgraphics to false. Tried the game again and the error no longer pops up, but the shadows are still poor.

Well they where off but somehow have turned themselves back on. Ok so it does look a little better. Whilst playing there is at times a kind of blur effect when looking, can that be turned off?. The graphics are pretty good, nowhere near the standard of the ENB on gtaiv though.

Thought i try something new :), i have not got the computer grunt to run a nice enb and be happy with it so i have been following this guide Real ugrids to load http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48387/? and had some realy good results. There is also a nice little tweak in there for people with a SSD bUseHardDriveCache=0 use 1 if you got a hard drive ( goes in general section of skyrim ini )

Got a few screenshots with a lot more on screen that i never had before and no performance drop :D

I will use that SSD line myself :). gonna start playing the game proper tonight once the kids are in bed. Had it installed for years but I always put off playing it because of the staet of it at the time. All I need now is to work out how to get rid of the annoying blur like effect which is appearing from time to time.
 
don't change ugrids.

It messes up the trigger points in the game, you can't even escape Helgen in a new game once you've altered the value from 5.

edit: as I thought. Just started a new game with no mods with the above settings. Game crashes to desktop outside of Riverwood.

Also FPS went from 200+ to around 30-40 with SLI 970s

Was following ThaReaperGuy's guide and somewhere between steps 7 and 8 I killed Skyrim.

I couldn't even load. It opens (windowed???) and then crashed before I even get a menu. I deleted skyrim and mod organiser.

Will try again.

What did you install last?
Was everything working before installing textures and such?

Did you run 'sort' on the esp's to get them lined correctly?

I have MSI Afterburner installed, but not running. No other OSD either.

I did step 7 and it ran just fine. Did step 8 with the RealVision (and its own extra steps) last and it wouldn't even load. So it must be something in there.

I would assume it is ENB, maybe I missed something. I am going to try again without and see what happens.

Have you downloaded the correct ENBseries version for Real Vision, it uses an older version of it compared to the most up to date?
