The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Failed miserably at modding my skyrim.

Tried following and installing recommended mods on the realvision enb skyrim nexus page.

Went to run the game and its just closing to desktop every time... :(

Just had a thought, it may be of help.

I hadn't touched skyrim for 6 months, and had an ENB working, I loaded it up and had the issue I described to you, so I decided I'll start from scratch and go down the MO route using the nexus guide and picking up mods as I came across them, like in your guide.

So this iteration is a build from a clean SKYRIM. Same problem.

Did you or are you using default profile in MO?
If so click on the next to gear icon and go to INI editor.copy paste you customised ini to it and save.this will create ini in you profile folder

Yes, Default.

Yep clicked on the gear, gone to ini editor I have a skrim.ini and a skyrimprefs.ini - but paste them into what?

Bet it's the Climates of Tamriel - Weather Patch. I can't get that working with Realvision ENB either - I get CTD. If you disable the CoT Weather Patch it'll probably be fine.

Make sure you extracted the files mentioned in the instructions as well (and you got the correct ENB version, not the latest).

You can't just install the mods and expect it all to work. You need to do a ton of leg work. You need to use boss for load orders, wyre bash, tes5edit to clean all those dirty mods and a bunch of ctd fix programs if needed. Modding skyrim is very detailed and a ton of time is needed on reading. It's more than possible, I've close to 200 mods installed, the game is different league visually, audio and gameplay compared to all other games and my game now does not crash ever. It's a fantastic achievement when you get it perfect.

if you run skyrim with custmised ini tweaks.then you need copy the inis in My document\My game \skyrim ins to Mod organiser In Editor and paste them in the tabs i.e skyrimpref.ini and skyrim.ini

Therefore each new profile you create you can have different ini tweaks for different characters etc.

Right, thanks. I have copy and pasted that and for next time. Decided to go back to base camp and start up the mountain again. This time should not take long I have the mods and tools ready.

:)

Lovely shots Devious, that with Serenity? Love the third from last, nice and colourful.

Has the forge always been in Riverwood?
Please tell me that's been added in, otherwise I will have to hit myself in stupidity of not seeing it...

Yes serenity.

And sorry to say the forge has always been there ;)

Wow, I installed the Parallax mod today and it makes a HUGE difference... textures pop out much more! I also checked my settings and found my AA was set up higher than it needed to be (I had transparency on etc) so its now running sweet at regular 4x. Verdant grass 1.4 looks awesome too!

This game really takes my breath away, it is just beautiful and captivating. Starting to turn into a bit of a badass (Imperial warrior mage specialising in One-handed, Heavy armour and Destruction) now and the feeling of progress is very satisying.

I was at work too! I've just gotten home :D

So here's my Mod Organiser load order:

Isn't one of the very first quests you can get when arriving in Riverwood a tutorial in blacksmithing using that very forge ;)

That's been a while and I went with the Stormcloaks so went to the farmer instead of the blacksmith!

Thanks for the modlist Reaper. Installed most of your recommended graphical mods.

Do you know any good ones or .ini tweaks for more fps?

Definitely use Verdant Grass, as it doesn't touch performance as much as others.
Seasons of Skyrim / Serenity is quite nice to FPS even with DOF enabled.
Without an ENB and DOF what FPS are you getting with most textures/mods added? (Should be 60fps+)

The shadows tweaks can gain some FPS back.
Should be a page or 2 back, or in the OP.

Knocking the grass density down can get some FPS back as well.
70 seems to be a good average, 60 if you want more density.

Make sure ugridstoload=5, anything more and you'll hammer your performance as it will be loading more in the distance.

Most are posted by Neil in the OP under the guide, think they're the main 3 though.

So I am off work with an infected foot (seriously, I am so done with this now!) and I am 3 weeks in and crawling the walls. So time to mod the bejeesus out of Skyrim.

I am currently doing a fresh install of it (have all the expansions) as I moved to Windows 10. Is the STEP guide the best way to go? I dunno. I don't mind putting the work in, and I already did the Imperial side on my 360 so I don't mind changes to gameplay so long as they don't break the overall theme of the Elder Scrolls.

I have a pretty decent rig, so much eye candy, many wow.

  • i7-2700k, currently at stock but I can get 4.8GHz stable no problem, probably higher if I tried
  • MSI r9 290 Gaming Edition, not overclocked, don't know how to but don't mind learning either.
  • 16GB RAM
