The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Well I just found my new ENB, after testing all of them :(

Serenity ENB GEN12.5

The only thing I had to do, was turn off Ambient Occlusion as it was tanking my frame rates too hard. Everything else is enabled including dof! Doing 55-60fps in Whiterun

Next I'm going to mod Whiterun ;)

If using an ENB, turn them both off in Skyrim Launcher and set to application preference in nvidia control panel, I believe.

As for AO, SHIFT+ENTER in game, turn it off in settings and apply-save

I realised today that I am in dire need of a PC upgrade. It's been a good year or so since I played Skyrim and was able to mod it pretty heavily. Having just spent around 12 hours or so getting all my mods installed and making sure the game is stable, I am getting a lovely 12 FPS outside of town.

I guess my trusty 6950 is overdue an upgrade anyway... On the bright side, I installed over 100 mods in one go and didn't CTD on loading!

I have been trying out new ENBs at the moment and i am almost sure that every ENB author has never tested out their ENB indoors or at night.

Sure they look nice in screenies taken during the day but at night or indoors it is just black. With some added black. It could be argued that it is somewhat realistic but man is it infuriating. Nearly always have to add a whack ton to ambientlightingintensitynight and directlightningintensitynight and tone down pointlightingintensitynight. Same for indoors both day and night. Then adjust SSAO so it isn't as demanding, turn off skylighting, change which AA method is used and I could go on...

This guy has done a LOD for SBT here http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60710/?

A few of you might have missed this new perk and balance mod as it was not up on the main page long. I have not tried it yet but look like it ticks a lot of boxes and you dont need to use a patcher :) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61034/?. I can also recommend his follower mod as well.

Hope you all had a great christmas and have a healthy new year :)

The Serenity ENB looks great. I might give that a go when I get my PC re-installed.

I need your help chaps.... I've read it somewhere in this thread and tried searching but can't find it.

How do I clean up my save game from mods so I can re-install windows and the game, plus all the DLCs, and continue my save games?

I'm going to upgrade my PC over the coming week which will finally have the grunt to run some ENBs as well. I'm going to load in the DLCs, which I haven't played yet as well so didn't install the mods for.

I'm only running about 15 mods for the main game, but they were all main game specific. I'll obvs need to remove all these and re-download the full DLC pack efforts as well.

I'll be doing a full clean re-install of the entire system anyway so will be starting from scratch, but I'm aware this can bork my saved games due to mods.

Do you have any advice?

I've removed all mods and reinstalled the game in the past. All it does is give a warning about missing elements, but it loads the game no problem. Just back everything up to portable storage, including your save games.

Yep, Ive been trying to sell Serenity throughout this thread. I like the natural colour palette and the way the DoF works.

Same! It's also nice being able to run it all but just turning Ambient Occlusion off, some of the other ENB's have way too much bloom or fantasy colours. Nothing worse than loading up, expecting sharp, and getting a Vaseline screen bright green grass and dodgy DOF.

Since seeing skyrim with ambient occlusion on, i cannot play without it. Normally I reduce it's performance impact but without it everything looks really flat.

Personally I am not a fan of serenity. Seems quite brown and noisy. I much prefer the clean brightness of Horizon but that is just personal preference.
