The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Little update for anyone using SPERG & Smithing Perks Overhaul Remade.

They're incompatible at the point of unlocking 'Arcane Blacksmith', the perk remains locked even if you have the level and perk point.
Took me forever to dig out a couple of comments where people have confirmed this.

I think SPERG the better one to keep out of the 2 as it adds much more to the Smithing Skill tree, which works with the others much better. However removing SPO from NMM or MO doesn't recover your perk points and are lost (Not sure what console commands can be used to gain them back either).

Working on a way to fix this and will post back:

#1 - Resetting perks via SPERG doesn't reset the smithing perks.
#2 - Easiest way was to remove SPO & do the following:

player.advskill <skill> 10000 - Do this until you have levelled enough times to match the perk points missing and clean up with:

player.setav <skill> <Original Value>
player.setav health <Original Value>
player.setlevel <Original Value>

And everything is back to normal. :D

Can just use the console to add/remove perks to give yourself the correct ones.

Try: help "arcane blacksmith" and it should give you code to use for the player.addperk command.

That was my initial idea but that can cause it's own issues when trying to use it going from what others have said & that you need to add the perk manually each time.

Ideally I wanted rid of SPO in favour of SPERG in the end so happy to have it done that way.

Hi all, got a question for you:

Would I mess up much if I installed Skyrim Redone in my present play-through, I'm at lvl 21 and have presently 94 working mods running ?? Or should I just keep playing through it as it is and use Skyrim Redone on a new game play later on ?

What does Skyrim Redone do? - I'm guessing it changes a fair bit + lots of mods?
You can set separate 'profiles' in Mod Organiser so you can have your 94 mods in one and then Skyrim Redone on another so they aren't together & then load your game choosing either.

But again, not sure what Skyrim Redone actually does.

On another note, been playing some more and stopped with the mods for now, very much enjoying the game once again.

Skyrim Redone is similar as SPERG I think, alternating quiet a few things.. Just grabbed the contents from the mod page to give a quick overview of what it does..

And yes, I seen I can have different profiles with different mods activated in MO, just was gonna be "lazy" and not start all over again. On the other hand, maybe better go through the "vanilla" skill tree and then use the upgraded package so to speak.. and could also play it a different way then doing now.. hmmm I have a ponder on that me thinks..

Been waiting for the time to reinstall this. I finally bought the Legendary edition instead of being a grouch nd waiting for the DLC to work out cheaper that it, which it seems will never happen! I wanted to get right in though so removedd some of the mods I had in the last playthrough and instead just went with a graphics collection through the steam workshop and a few bits such as SKSE, realvision enb and a magic balance patch. I just finished a LOTR marathon so am feeling the need to become, epic :) heh

Could i ask what keeps you guys going in Skyrim after youve played through the stories? I really enjoyed the game, got it modded with ENB and all the other pretty mods and hi res textures, then after i had done all the missions i got a bit bored.

Is there addons to give you new things to do like the rally addons etc in GTA4?

There are addons that expand the game space, some of them are huge too and provide many more hours of gameplay. More important I think for fans of the game are the mods that change the gameplay though. These can really transform the way the game plays vastly from the vanilla game.

Then for others, well they are more addicted to modding the game than actually playing it for any length of time :D

I find it hard not to keep carrying on even though i want a break from it, just finished Dragonborn and straight away another quest thrown at me. Make it stop lol

My first play through, I was a sneaky archer/one handed fighter, rarely used magic and sided with the Imperials.
Second time I'm going to mix it with more magic and go Stormcloak.
Add in a ton of other mods and quests and I think this game has more replay value than most other 'AAA' titles. In fact more than most other games.

Moonpath to Elsweyr
Falskaar
Wrymstooth

Three huge addons which create an entirely new settings, Elsweyr added 5-8 hours to the game and was really well done. But I think mainly the re playability of Elder Scrolls games are what keep people playing, you never finish everything 100% on any of the playthroughs there is always something you could have done differently or something you missed.

So far my Khajiit assassin character posted above has 78 hours sunk into him and I'm probably 35% through the main game, side quests and little tasks make up the big chunk of the game + I still have the DLC's to do as well.

Game is massively huge it's scary, but then Morrowind & Oblivion I probably sunk 400+ hours into as well going back and doing things differently.

I loved the "another life" mods, they added a new dimension to me from the usual "super hero" character types.
