The CFF program? I've done the same and was able to access steam and I got achievements. Possibly a conflict but at the very least not a certain one.
 
The initial release of Skyrim (and the Day 1 patched version) could:
- Be ran without Steam running.
- Be edited by third party apps to force the Large Address Aware flag.

The latest version of Skyrim:
- Requires Steam to be running.
- Cannot be edited to force the Large Address Aware flag.

Editing the latest version of TESV.exe will simply make the executable crash. This means that the majority of the patchers that are floating about are useless for future updates.

So at this time the only way to enable LAA is:
-To have the original TESV.exe, Steam updates disabled, Edited to LAA aware.
OR
- Have Steam running as normal and use the LAA inject/host process method that was previously used for Fallout NV. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013

Look, I'm using the latest TESV.exe, the one I linked earlier. I patched it manually with CFFexplorer. I have been able to access the steam overlay FINE. It behaves exactly as it did when I first installed retail. I have unlocked achievments since aswell, it also shows me playing skyrim correctly. I really do not understand what you are all doing wrong...
 
if you patched the TESV.exe before the update then it will still be the old one, verifying the game cache will replace it with the none-patchable version. The game runs fine using the old exe even after the update, a nice DRM fail there since the pirates won't be updating anyway.

You probably don't need to update though, the only change seemed to be the forced use of steam.
 
Posted in other topic with same issue, but perhaps someone with a bit more game techical knowledge might see it here.

After 1-2 hours playing the game will go struggle to load textures and, walls/skins/ground will just be solid black, even loading screen models wont load. Fixed with game restart sometimes, but not always, and sometimes only with a PC restart.

Only using 2 mods, smoother faces and nuderz, so I don't think it's a mod issue.

Any tips?

The EXE linked earlier bypasses steam entirely so you're talking poo ;)

If not, please can you link and write instructions on what to do please? Ive tried it with the new exe and im receiving error 51, and with the downloaded exe its not accessing Steam which i need.
