The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

if you're running through steam then you need to log into steam first before clicking play on the nexus manager so it skips past the steam mod menu thing which seems to stop nexus mods from working

Thanks for that. Missed that you could run Skyrim from the mod manager. However just done that and textures are still no different.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong:confused:

have you unchecked the high quality texture pack dlc (on the plugins tab)? they could be interfering with the skyrim2k textures

I played Skyrim a while ago on the 360, but I've just bought it again for playing on the PC (well, Mac running Windows in Bootcamp). What sort of mods should I be looking at to get the most out of it?

The computer I'm using has an i5 at 2.9GHz, 8GB of RAM and a Geforce GT750M with 1GB of VRAM.

Cheers.

Check the first post in this thread then just pick and choose which one you like the look of as you'll struggle to run the complete 2K texture packs for example but there is a 'lite' version.

unless you have the mod install path set up wrong in nexus i really don't know :(

I'll give it another go tomorrow as that could be it. Thanks for help so far :)

Thats the new version of NMM with profiles... it looks like you maybe have the wrong profile selected? I don't use it myself (the last old version without profiles was 0.56 and I'm still using that)

I've heard that Warzones and Immersive Patrols are quite taxing on the system though? I'll like to keep as close to 60fps as I can (I'm running an enb and loads of texture mods).

Immersive patrols its the battles version that can be taxing its the sheer number of NPCs onscreen at once and if your system is laden down already it could be a problem. One thing I've noticed is if you have Enhanced Blood Textures turn it off or turn it down because all the extra scripts running on all the corpses can be punishing.

Immersive patrols is safe to remove as it doesn't contain any scripts but Warzones has a ton and once you have it you're pretty much stuck with it until you start a new game so give it a trial run first and if you don't like it revert to an earlier save before you added it or you'll likely run into issues and thats true for any scripted mod they just aren't designed to be removed on an existing save.

@maj, looks like the textures aren't loading on startup, have you also tried using Mod Organiser to see if you get the same results?

Would double check they've all downloaded into the right path, did you download them manually?

Haven't tried mod organiser yet, no. I downloaded them from the nexus website and selected the individual files I wanted and told it to download via the manager then installed them. There were a few steam workshop ones I installed too. I was messing on with the mod manager so probably is something to do with the paths.

If I were you I'd start using Mod Organiser from the get-go and forget about NMM. It's a powerful tool, especially when combined with the LOOT load order utility.

I'm currently playing Skyrim using Mod Organiser and Fallout New Vegas with NMM and if it wasn't for the fact that I've almost consumed every available mod going with FNV I'd completely remove NMM and never use again.

I've never ever had a problem with Nexus Mod Manager, the only time I ever did was a screw up on my part doing a failed update

How do all these mods play with steam? Is the best bet to run skyrim outside of steam? Or add the mod manager thing to steam?

Best to avoid Steam launcher and let your mod tool organise them. Steam launcher will re-sort your mods without asking and every so often they **** something up - 6 months ago it would only allow 50 mods to be active at once it took a week or so before they sorted that out.

Launch via SKSE shortcut is probably easiest but either way Steam needs to be running first

you're going to have to launch with skse to use skyui (which i think is an essential mod even if you don't mod anything else)

+1 to launching with SKSE, and to avoiding the Steam Workshop.

I've used NMM since the beginning and have had no problems with it.

With regards to the textures not showing, this might be worth a try:

Go to Documents/My Games/Skyrim and open Skyrim.ini with WordPad/NotePad. Look for the [ARCHIVE] section, and if you see bInvalidateOlderFiles=0, change the 0 to a 1. Alternatively you can delete the line but changing it might be just as easy.

This was an issue with some of the body textures a while back, might work for this as well.

Another approach might be to disable all of the texture mods you've put on, and then bring them in one at a time. Enable one, go in game and check if it is working or not, then try another. Establish what is working or not, at least you will have a baseline to work from.

Good luck, sometimes getting a mod to work is trial and error.

Cheers,
