The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Well i am back up and running again with my directory's sorted :) MO Certainly sorted that out though it did need quite a bit more work to get back to where i was with my mods :P

Now to fix a few bits and keep on adding :D My FPS drops do seem to have been fixed by trying to use 5ugrids instead of 7. Need to sort my billboards out too but so far so good :)

Thanks for the advice ^^

I've been thinking about replacing my 980 with a 1070 but according to the STEP ENboost page Skyrim cant use more than 4gb of VRAM when running in Windows 10.

Anyone know if thats actually true?

I've managed to push it to 5GB VRAM used in 7 when testing a stupidly high res setup with my mods. Dunno about 10 - used to be under the impression Skyrim couldn't go above about 2GB without crashing.

Using 10 here and have not experienced that, however W10 definitely did cause a lot of games to not work how they should. The engine really is being pushed to it's absolute limits by modders and hopefully the new release will just give us more headroom for even greater mods due to the native support of current hardware configurations that the old system didn't properly use.

EDIT : Goose i have just quickly uploaded this so you can see the VRAM use for yourself in case you wanted to be able to see it in action, please bare in mind that i have yet to put the rest of my texture mods back on and am expecting this to raise about another 600-700mb yet but it's definitely not stopping at 4gb.

Thanks a lot mate. I think i'm gonna wait before getting a new card any way until the remastered version comes out in October. Fingers crossed that 1070 prices might come down a bit by then too.

Hello chaps.

I've recently started a play through of skyrim again.

i've followed the 2016 updated ultra graphics guide at the start of this thread. this is my whiterun @ 4k resolution.

Help with my Skyrim Mods

Hi all,

I've been modding my Skyrim using this guide as i wanted photo realistic best looking skyrim i could make : http://www.predcaliber.com/#!skyrim-1/p567s

I'm running it at 4k and its kinda struggling in places like whiterun (30-40fps) It is predominantly the ENB as when i disable it i get a 10fps improvement.

Additionally i do get 'lag' where the game pauses for a split second like its loading textures or something in the background to do with the mods i've installed.

I have a 4770k @ 4.2ghz & GTX 1080 which i feel should handle this better, therefore i have a few questions:

1. I have removed the DOF filter from the ENB and the ambient occlusion as this nets me more FPS - what .ini settings can i use to further improve performance e.g.VRAM amount? i know 4GB is DX9 limit but wahat should it be set at? my skyrim is using 4.5GB most of the time...

e.g.

2. What mod is causing my wall torches to look like ****?

Lol, no. :)

Its apparently a DX9 limit with Windows 10. Imposed by Microsoft for some reason presumably because they want you/devs to use DX11/12.

Windows 7 doesn't suffer from this Vram limit.

So how many people are going to be getting the enhanced version of Skyrim? Is it just updated graphics or different gameplay as well?

And will this go hand in hand with previous DLC or is it completely separate?

People with the legendary edition get it for free :)

I never finished it so I'm just going to wait for the remastered before starting it again lol
