They really need to include the 4GB mod in a patch - there must be so many people getting CTDs all the time and not realising that there is a simple fix.

Think I will try the Serious HD Retexture Landscape mod next.
 
4GB patch is no longer working for me now, getting an application load error.

Maybe the original EXE has been updated again.

Edit: Redownloaded and installed the fix and seems ok now.

so the 4gb thingy fixes CTD's? suddenly getting these! also is anyone running well on crossfire yet? i got 11.11b installed atm and its better with one card still (6950)
 
Installed the Nightingale armor mod last night. Wow! I'm amazed how much better it looks than the stock one. Although it might look maybe a little too sharp against the vanilla textures, it'll probably fit in more once I install some more hd textures.
 
Beejn using the 4gb patch thinking it had solved my CTD problem comletely ( went over a week + 30 hours of playing without a single on) Now yesterday i had two CTD's and just had another one. They are infrequent but it seems weird they have come back???! :confused:

I have just downloaded the 1.4 update and deleted the old 4gb exe and file in steamapps/my documents so i will see if that makes things good again

Seems stange that they would suddenly come back though after so long without one :confused:
 
You have to reapply the 4gb patch after every update, also what i tend to do is forget that you have to run it through the 4gb exe, so make sure you don't run it through the launcher without thinking about it, i have done it many times!

Hm, no i have definitely been running it through the 4gb.exe and not the launcher.

Unless Steam has sneakily changed it somehow in the last few days??

The 4gb loader still worked fine and the game still worked fine, it just started CTD on me again after not doing so for ages and ages.
 
On my modmanager I now have installed:
Enhanced blood texture
Enhanced night sky - colour galaxy
Glowing ore
Realistic water tectures
Silly level of detail Pot/Poisons
No more blocky faces
HiRes road signs
Serious HD landscape

Also installed the FXAA mod with the realistic preset. I installed the 4GB fix albeit not with the mod manager. I'd like to keep as many thinks as possible within the mod manager as it makes it easy to enable/disable them.

Am I missing any other major HD textures? I was going to install the extra flora detail but it looks like a massive effort to repack it to get it to work with the mod manager so skipped it. Skyrim HD 2k seems to be the most popular but I'm wondering if it'll fight with the Serious HD landscape mod. Any others people think are worth having a look at? There is just so many at the moment to look through...

EDIT: Just saw the mod manager install for the vurt Skyrim Flora overhaul so giving that a go :P

^^ Definitely get Vurts as it is brilliant, personally i would install 2k textures and then the Serious landscape one, that way it will be the landscape textures overwriting the 2k ones which would seem to be the best option for me. That is what i did anyway.

Either way the textures will just be overwritten so it will not cause any problems

Will do. I'll give the landscape ones an uninstall, install 2k and then re-install landscape ones.
