The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Also guys I have the following SKSE error message.

Do I need to run the exe prior to playing the game?

That means some of mod wont be active, I'm on it now :)

Is there anyway to setup in steam to launch it before skyrim? using a command? Save doing it manually each time

Like you Acemodder, I used Sexy Whiterun but found it pretty ugly so switched to something a bit more 'real'.

I didn't like any of the 'sexy' mods, they all look too artificial, as Neil said, like an MMORPG

For SKSE all you need to do is put it in your Syrim folder and run the game from SKSE_Loader whenever you want to play it(just create a shortcut), the only thing that doesn't do is start up the launcher, it goes straight in to the game, Steam wtill starts with it though

Oppps

Seems I have screwed up my darkness inside buildings (maybe else where too)

Best find out what is causing that!

I've starting playing with the mods for Skyrim

Gone from this

Looks terrible IMO, if that's what the "Sexy" mods look like, I'll keep away from them. :p

What graphical mods are you using, ENB configs, FXAA Injector, Realisting Lighting or something else?

Yeah don't bother, I installed them then loaded up the game and took one look at Whiterun and quit and uninstalled them.

The problem with all these lighting mods is that it makes them more realistic which is fine, but it does not add candles or windows or whatever, so you get ridiculous things like NPC's sitting around in pitch black.
The authors say things like "where is all this light coming from in interiors, it shouldn't be so light" .....If that was the case though, the characters of the world would surely do something to remedy it. like add more lights.

Found it. The offending mod was called "RealLights for Skyrim - RealLights"

Back to normal now

Looks very washed out, what graphics settings are you using?

I highly recommend not using ENB mods on AMD cards because of the performance drop but some configs looks very good on Nvidia cards.

I found Realistic Lighting with Sydney's config to look best, doesn't require any additional mods and no fps drop at all.

Seems I now got better again.

Trees in medieval like towns wouldn't be popular due to fire hazards they pose.

You'd be surprised, living in medieval towns (which this game resembles after all) would be pretty boring at night, they didn't have electricity back then.

Try Realisting Lighting with the Sydney's config, my screenshots for reference, assuming that your monitor is gamma calibrated.

I'll get take some during the night time.

Realistic Lighting with Sydneys config is what I am using now as well, best by far, though I still think interiors are still just a little too dark in places

I get moments though where I am in Solitude for example, and it is raelly bright sunshine outside, I go in the tavern and can barely see a thing, everyone is sat around in the dark with barely any light at all

They're basically basement dwellers, just like me...

Keep and eye on the Skyrim Monster Mod, it could be the next big thing.

Also, Wars in Skyrim with Heroes and Villains is simply brilliant, I don't recommend going to Riverwood for low level characters with this mod though. :p

WARZONES

Is one of the best mods i've used, I was walking the cold snowy wasteland and came across screaming and the clanger of weapons. As I rushed to see what was going on, 6 units against 3 imperials were at each other's throats. Then over the horizon an army of imperials came to battle, I chucked a fireball but ended up both sides attacking me and each other.

:D

If anyone has crashes after installing/uninstalling one or more mods (or simply wants to get rid of the missing content messages whilst loading save games), you need to do a clean save.

Also "pcb" (Purge Cell Buffer) command for clearing up the memory.

Very fun mod, not recommended for starters though, breaks the vanilla gameplay a little (side quests, free roam, increases difficulty, distracts from main quests, etc.). Use with Wars in Skyrim for best experience.

I've got Monster Mod tracked, hope iy isn't like the New Vegas version though..... that was a bit of a mess.

I asked the author if he was planning to make it modular in any way, as it is going to add so many creatures that it might go a bit OTT imo, but I don't think it is planned any time soon. In the New Vegas version for example, you got to choose which animals/monsters you installed and which you didn't.

I still haven't tried any of the war mods, I might have to give one of them a go though, between WIS and Warzones.

From what I've seen it's a pretty large mod but some of the textures are a bit over the top IMHO, don't add to the authenticity of the mobs in game.

Wars in Skyrim - Random enquanters, able to choose the difficulty, some minor additional changes. Pretty fun to increase the chance of random fights. Plus the Heroes and Villains addon that is very fun but may be difficult for low level players.

Warzones - small to huge battles between different factions, battlegrounds, etc. Many NPCs added.

The mods don't conflict with each other.

Does anyone use Riften HQ from Nexus? I'm not sure I've installed them correctly or whether they are a big change or not.

@ Ace Modder - that looks MUCH better! I mean no offence but that previous modded pic looked too sterile. I thought it was a pic of an outlet mall :D I agree that some of the mods overdo it big time and the game ends up looking like a cartoon.

And in other GREAT news: I just saw on the Skyrim HD Facebook page that the author has completed work on Version 1.5 and will be uploading it shortly in 2 parts :) Easily one of the best mods going. Which reminds me I need to donate some $ to this guy. He needs new components for his PC.

I'm not using all of Skyrim HD as it messes with some things that other mods are better at!, such as PERFECT water and that Ice mod.
