The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

FREQUENTLY ASKED UNREASONABLE QUESTIONS :

YOU RUINED MY SAVE GAMES:

Actually, YOU did by not keeping a save from before trying the mod as I've suggested.

YOUR MOD BROKE MY GAME:

Yeah, no it didn't.

I UNINSTALLED AND MY GAME IS STILL CRASHING. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

Nothing.

DO YOU CARE WHAT I THINK? HOW TO BEST OFFER ADVISE TO A GUY THAT'S SPENT HIS FREE TIME MAKING A MOD FOR OUR ENJOYMENT AT NO COST TO YOU.

Be nice. Be articulate. Avoid the words "should" and "realistic". Hahah. No. Really.

You should know that I LOVE constructive input. Even if I do not agree or am not able to implement your idea(s), I want to hear them.

:)

Hi guys.

I am about to start playing through skyrim for the first time.

I would like some advise on what mods to install.

So far, I have installed fxaa injector which instantly makes the game look better. The only problem I have with this is that it disables my MSI afterburner overlay, taking away the ability to limit the FPS. Now I have tried installing the ENB shaders mod but took such a performance hit that I have decided to uninstall that for now.

I also have Bethesda's own HD texture pack installed, is there a better one?

Is anyone else having this problem? I just downloaded the Creation Kit but the weapon form is greyed out :(

I selected a weapon, right click > Duplicate & a copy is created.

But even when I went to my copy the Weapon Form remains greyed out!

This is the form Im on about, mine stays greyed out and nothing can be edited

Any advice please thanks!!

EDIT: Found the solution
The Template field needs to be set to NONE (as in the screenshot above).

Is the following a common bug? Animals in the semi distance will suddenly rise up into the air, float for a few seconds, then fall back to the ground and die. This bug has claimed all the chickens and the cow in Riverwood so far. Bit annoying really. I have the following mods.

Quality world map
Better sorting
Dovakiin Hideout
Glowing ore veins
Lost art of blacksmith
More craftables
Realistic water
Shadow striping fix
Skyrim HD 2K textures
SkyUI
Vals crafting meltdown

Messed up my character textures and a lot of mods were not nmm installed, so reinstalling game and putting it all to mod manager :)

Nmm has come along way! :p

I've never used the construction set so far. How hard is it to code in? I have some ideas for some epic spells.

FTR I used to do a lot of coding with the Neverwinter Nights construction set (running a PW) so am not afraid of it. :)

On the GPU front, my SKyrim uses up about 1.5GB of VRAM at the moment. So glad I got that 2GB card! ;)

Anyone else using Height Adjusted Races with True Giants ?

I think it is good, but not sure if it is a little too much ......Thoughts?

Have been wondering about mods like this, as the giants are a bit.....small. But is does kinda make the giant a bit like an elongated skinny stick model, like most giant mods. They almost need beefing up / filling out a bit I think.

Lol, I wish I could help but I just found that funny!! :p
Only thing I would suggest is to disable all your mods through the Launcher or Mod Manager and then see if the problem is still there.

Everyone is talking about this game so I am finaly giving in.
I'll buy it this week and check it out for myself.

Say goodbye to social life :D

Lol, its a fun game not just to play but to tweak & mod as well. A true virtual sandbox.

All of my texture mods suddenly stopped working!

I had to reinstall them all. Some just reverted to vanilla, whilst others were missing. Thank God for NMM, which as Neil said, has come a long way.

Because I originally followed(loosely) the STEP guide, I checked it again to make sure I was doing them in the order, but 2 things occurred to me:

1. His order is highly suspicious, it says you MUST install them in that order so that certain textures override others, but the list seems to be suspiciously close to alphabetical:p
2. Does it even matter, can't you just install them in any order and just set it to not replace the textures already there?

Anyway I am back to normal now, and I have gone back to Realistic Lighting, I just need to turn down HDR somehow.

Guys before you do ANY modding backup your entire Skyrim installation to DVD.

It uses just 2 DVDs and it will save you a world of pain if you really mess something up. Ive done it and it used 2 DVDs and one CD.

Of course doesnt have to be DVD, create another folder on your HD or send it to an external HD. The entire installation will even fit on a USB stick!

Loving the HD texture pack, rain, lighting and shadow mods. I haven't tried any of the others yet but the obvious choices are winners

Its also the TINY tweaks that make all the diff.

Like this one:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4349

All it does is make the rocks that are sticking out in the middle of rivers have a wet slippery appearance - as they should have! A tiny download but its these little details at add to the whole experience :)

You can just backup the textures folder after you have got it to a stage where its working perfectly. None of the other files in the Skyrim directory should need replacing if you mess a mod up.
