The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

I am having a problem with shadows at the moment, there seems to be a kind of pattern on them until you get really close. I don't know what shadow striping is, but maybe it is that, I downloaded the fix, but it hasn't done anything unfortunately. I am just ignoring it atm though as it isn't too noticeable.

I had this problem and it went away when I set shadows to Ultra. If your FPS suffers then drop it down to High. What I noticed was that anything lower than High = striping. Even with High theres a tiny amount but its not that bad. But Ultra is best - they vanish.

Nexus mod manager is working again, it was showing NO DATA for most of last night and nexus was slow to access...

Just downloaded Animated Prossies lol

It's not NMM failing, Skyrim Nexus servers aren't really suited for the current demand and they have regular maintenance periods.

Do a back up of skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini, delete them and let Steam recreate them for you.

Also see which shadows you like better, Ultra (less detailed, long distance) or High (more detailed, short distance).

Anyone else using Killmove+ or the alternative Epic Dual Wielding? Some of the killmoves it adds are really good. Is the sword and shield one where you jump up and impale an enemy vanilla? ...can't remember.

I finally downloaded catalyst 12.1 last week and the performance increase has been excellent. Now I can run around Markarth, Solitude etc getting no lower than 50ish. Really makes a difference.

Been using Killmoves+ for quite some time now, no problems whatsoever.

The only issue I have with Skyrim now is stuttering most likely caused by running out of video memory (uses up to 2GB VRAM all the time).

I can't even get double figures FPS with shadows set to ultra! Get 50-60 on medium, but they look terrible. Setting iblurdefferedshadowmask to 16 helps a bit though. Also putting shadows to medium and upping ishadowmapresolution a bit helps.

It's an addon to the main bsa files.

no

As you may have noticed I started uploading the newly packed Loose File Versions.

Every Version will consist out of 4 parts that can be downloaded and used individually, all together or mixed between LITE and FULL.

He's going to add each section as loose files for NMM, dungeons...landscapes...towns e.t.c

Dude - that looks amazing! Please list the mods you used? Specially the tree-bark one and the lens-flare!!

Trees = Lush Trees

The flare will usually come with any ENB mod that has sunglare (most if not all)

Seeing as I'm looking at the trees/sky, they're the only two mods apparent in that test vid, but settings are on ultra and you should make sure this line in your skyrimprefs.ini 'bTreesReceiveShadows=1' is set to '1' and not '0' (comes with performance loss)

However, I currently have my Xfire disabled, and I'm getting smooth frame rate even with action onscreen. Using same card as you.

Thanks loads :D Will edit that .ini line as well!

Just to point out, there are tons of ENB configs available on skyrim nexus and you can find one you like and make further changes to it to get it to your liking - but they do give varying degrees of performance, and it seemingly have little to do with how impressive each one looks. Some I had to drop settings right down to Med/High to get smooth frame rate with 2 cards, others that looked more impressive I could run on Ultra with 1 card. So it's a matter of finding one you like that runs well for you and then tweaking it to your liking.

I'm pretty sure you're using either Trees HD or Skyrim Flora Overhaul too for new barks.

^

I am using Skyrim Flora Overhaul, although I thought that was just the bushes/plants? Krugga may be right, they're by the same author. I recommend installing both along with Lush Grass.

Ahh ok thanks I was just reading about that on the GTA IV forums!! Do you think you could paste your Skyrim enb .ini in your next reply? (the one you used in your video?)

Thanks :D

Have stuck with the realistic lighting mod, and it's cracking. Have no issues outside, but inside was dark - forgot about the candlelight spell (might as well use it since my mage is specialising in alteration). Casts a wierd glow and dungeon creatures don't notice it strangely.

Have tried Sounds of Skyrim Wilds and Dungeons - having both seemed to hammer my fps for some reason, so only have one running, dependent on where I'm going. Very cool though.

Would recommend installing both Trees HD and Skyrim Flora Overhaul as well - looks beautiful.

Ok, I buckled and gave in to the Skyrim temptation. I was holding out as I wasnt sure if I would enjoy it, turns out, I do.

So, mods....

Is it fair to say the best mods to get are the ones over at Syrim Nexus, in the Top Most Endorsed Files of all time list?

Im also a bit of an impatient bugger, like GTA 4, I wanted all the goodies straight away. Is there an 'easy' (cheating obviously) way to spawn items, weapons etc right away?
