The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

I did that too ;)

Does make me chuckle how some people think I'm a complete noob as If i don't read instructions and don't know a lot about games :o

Typo. :o

It was a rhetorical question, I know you like modding this and other games but it's a very noobish mistake to make by not reading the instructions provided or not knowing (this many months in :O) that all injector and ENB configs have to be installed manually due to installers' limitations.

Though now it seems that you did read the instructions, I'm guessing you tried changing the ini settings to default or verifying the files on Steam before the reinstall.

Anyway, don't install ENB configs using NMM as that won't work properly.

Once you get a fresh Skyrim installed: Make an image of it. Or if you have a massive HD just create a folder called Skyrim Backup and copy-paste the entire Skyrim install into that.

Once you have a modded Skyrim and its running just fine - do the same.

This policy is great insurance - even better if you burn them to DVD. I have done this and now have comforting access to original files.

Now of course I dont use NMM or Wyre Bash (considering it) and I gather if you DO use either of those thats its far easier to mess about with mods knowing they wont screw something up!

This is really pointless, takes too much time to back up all files and get them back and doesn't really warrant any better results than the simpler method of deleting or modded folders and files (which are mighty easy to find, just check what folders Skyrim creates by defaults and which ones are modified by mods), validating the files on Steam and backing up/restoring the ini files.

I'm annoyed!

Installed one of those lighting/fxaa mods last night as people kept on raving about em, super ENB or something. My frame rates dived to 30fps and lagged like hell
The frame dive will be due to ambient occlusion and depth of field. Turn them off and your frame rate will go up to no more than a couple FPS less than what you had originally.

On another note, I found that using the default Realistic Lighting with Super ENB rather than the one provided gives better results.

Everything was black and green, there was no detail in anything I couldn't see anything in the rocks. Tried everything to get it back and couldn't, ended up having to uninstall the game :(

Oh dear Neil it was so obvious to me what you should have done.

Thought I'd put a few screens up since I've been wading through new mods on nexus (spoiler tags to avoid spamming forum).

I used to mod Oblivion back along but hadn't played with Skyrim till last night...

I thought I'd give SKYUI a go so installed the NMM & SKSE. I launched Skyrim from SKSE short cut & all was working fine.

Now I just have one problem & I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before - I now have a blue chopping block in the middle of Riften that hasn't reverted even after disableing the mod... any ideas anyone? (I haven't played with drivers yet)

Download and run BOSS. This will at least give you some idea of which load ordering may be best. You will then need to order the mods yourself, manually, using the DATA FILES option of the standard Skyrim Launcher.

To save you some reading, just put the whole BOSS folder in the same directory as TESV.exe before you run BOSS GUI.exe for the first time.
