The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

where can i get the latest skse, just downloaded it from the skse site but in skyui keeps telling me it cant find it (yes its installed in the primary skyrim folder)

lol i get that too, followed both SkyUI and SKSE installation guides to the word and launch the game via skse and keep getting a yellow box saying can't find skse, i gave up trying to fix it, skyui seems to work ok with the error

[edit] just tried running skse_loader as administrator and i dont get the error now

Guide updated, I'll throw in another bunch of mods, add smithing, sounds and fixes to the lot tomorrow (if time allows).

1) Gameplay Mods:

Deadly Dragons + PISE + Wars in Skyrim -> couldn't live without them.

Seriously, vanilla Skyrim is way too easy, try starting up a new character (an old one will be too overpowered already) with these three mods and choose Expert/Master difficulty, that's where the true RPG fans will find the essence of this game.I don't recommend Heroes and Villains for starters or higher levels of Wars in Skyrim (Rainbow and Normal are fine).

Warzones is a great mod that works well with Wars in Skyrim but alters the gameplay too much to my liking. Great for the end game though.

2) Interface:

SkyUI + Better Sorting + Categorized Favorites Menu + CFM Mods Supported
And A Quality World Map for the new world map.

3) Essential Texture Mods:

First of all, make sure you have the official HD Pack and HD Textures DLC Fix.

OR

Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized, which merges the two and optimises some textures for better performance.

Skyrim HD - 2K Textures (the largest texture mod out there, high resolution textures for pretty much anything)
Realistic Water Textures
Static Mesh Improvement Mod
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack
Better Dynamic Snow
Glowing Ore Veins 300

Optional:

Realistic Lighting With Customization

4) Tools:

Nexus Mod Manager
Mod Organiser - NMM alternative with more options
BOSS - load order sorting

5) Resources:

Skyrim Nexus
Steam Workshop - Skyrim
Curse - Skyrim
SkyForge

Script Dragon and Sky Boost
SKSE

Skyrim Tips
Guide to Load Orders (now obsolete)

Watch this space, I'll make a comprehensive list for both new and advanced players at any level.

I have installed quite a few mods and i carried on with my current save and some of the textures arent correct like they flicker. Should i be starting a new game to fix it? It was an already modded game but some of the mods i just updated with the latest versions.

Been having a problem where my Understone Keep (Markarth) cell seems to have become corrupted and trying to enter results in CTD, so having to use console to spawn myself in different parts of the keep each time (wizards quarters, hall of the dead etc) to get in without crashing. Looked online and it seems its actually quite a common problem without any fix. Anyone else experienced this?

I hope some mod guru can make the dragons flyable or do this to the horses in Skyrim! Would be a fun way to get around! :o

I think Tytanis will be attempting that but it was most certainly one of the features Bethesda was showing at Skyrim Game Jam so you can bet it will be in one of the DLCs.

.... it was most certainly one of the features Bethesda was showing at Skyrim Game Jam....

Wow I didnt know that! I cant wait! From the moment I saw the Skyrim trailer I always thought that it would be a shame if flight was not possible. The closest we have to it of course is console command TFC (which is just like a drone mode to scope things out lol) and of course the collision command TCL. Both are unnatural-feeling so heres hoping we can one day summon a dragon and saddle up

I'm annoyed!

Installed one of those lighting/fxaa mods last night as people kept on raving about em, super ENB or something. My frame rates dived to 30fps and lagged like hell, uninstalled it via NMM and it completely screwed my saturation and brightness/contrast levels.

Everything was black and green, there was no detail in anything I couldn't see anything in the rocks. Tried everything to get it back and couldn't, ended up having to uninstall the game :(

Well it did say

" Nexus Download Manager "
or
" Manual Download "

Are you new to modding, mate?

This is what it says on the front page of the mod:

Installation

-> DO NOT FORGET TO CHANGE bFloatPointRenderTarget VALUE to 1 on Skyrimprefs.ini.
Move all files on one of folder what you like which are in "Choose One" archive.

for example,If your computer's specification is low, move all files on 'Low' folder into your skyrim directory.

And this:

Q&A

Q: my skyrim is too bright/washed out at daytime when I apply this mod.
A: set bFloatPointRenderTarget to 1 on your skyrimprefs.ini
Q: When I run skyrim to play, It just crashed! how can I solve it?
A: try injector version. else I don't know.
Q: I have problem with sun glare!
A: do not use Skyrim HD 2K Textures' sunglare, try to delete sunglare.dds on (textures\sky archive)

And you should know yourself by now that any mod that has to be moved to any folder other than Skyrim/Data will not work using NMM.

That shouldnt happen at all and you didn't have to unistall the game!!

You just remove 6 items from the Skyrim root folder when it comes to FXAA:

----------------------
iinjFX_Shaders folder
FXAA_Tool.exe,
injFX_Settings.h
shader.fx
d3d9.dll
log.txt

----------------------

Thats it! My FXAA injector works perfectly with no issues! And it does make a great difference :) Here is the one I have and it works brilliant.

And if you dont like any FXAA injector just delete those 6 items :D

That's what I did Katana and it was still screwed up as I said " Tried Everything to get it back "

Nevermind though, will wait a while and see what mods come about and start from beginning instead of mage :)

Once you get a fresh Skyrim installed: Make an image of it. Or if you have a massive HD just create a folder called Skyrim Backup and copy-paste the entire Skyrim install into that.

Once you have a modded Skyrim and its running just fine - do the same.

This policy is great insurance - even better if you burn them to DVD. I have done this and now have comforting access to original files.

Now of course I dont use NMM or Wyre Bash (considering it) and I gather if you DO use either of those thats its far easier to mess about with mods knowing they wont screw something up!
