The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

just reinstalled skyrim on my new pc, so looking to get some good mods now.

Any reccomendations on what mods to get to start out ? im not to bothered about graphic improvements, it looks nice enough. More gameplay wise, extra stuff to do/get, armour, weapons etc im after.

cheers :D

What happened to Wars in Skyrim? Seemed a load of effort went into it, then it disappeared from Nexus?

No idea, it was a great mod but I've stopped using it after a while due to difficulty issues.

It disappeared from Nexus a few weeks ago, thought it would come back by now.

Seems the modder got fed up with people flaming him:

A shame, it was an essential mod IMO.

It actually looks like he just got tired of modding and there must be some truth to what sydney666 said. He couldn't really keep up with his ideas for the mod and fixing bugs or making stable releases.

It's precisely for that very reason why I stopped using the mod.

The Skyrim modding community seems to be a very scary place. Authors of popular mods sometimes take comments to personally, or work themselves too hard. Maybe it's because they're young. They should understand that the people who enjoy using the mod far exceed the complainers.

But, as with much in life, the complainers are often the loudest :(

Is the official high res texture pack worth any salt, or should it be avoided in favor of a community version?

last I played it, there wasn't the official high res texture pack. Those were simpler times... :(

The nexus mod manager do I have to start it every time to launch the skyrim or just the once when I've downloaded and loaded all the mods that I've I want.

Soooooo Skyrim HD or Serious HD? Whats the general consensus?

Got Serious HD atm, not tried the other yet.

I think quite a few people (including me) dislike Serious HD landscape textures because they don't blend in very well.

Even if you use them though, it is still recommended to install Skyrim HD as they include many more textures than just landscapes. Just install Skyrim HD first or don't overwrite Serious HD ones.

I went with both, I use Serious for landscapes, and Skyrim HD for everything else. Then i got WATER for water effects and Mesh for improved models :)
