The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered - MODS & TWEAKS

Anyone tried 'skyrim realistic overhaul 1.6' ? It was a well regarded Skyrim mod on Nexus that was apparently taken down a while back. Just wondering how it compares to some of the other popular full texture overhauls as its over 3gb to dl.

At the moment I haven't found anything better than the Osmodius pack. Some really nice ground textures in it. I have yet to checkout the new forts update though.

Sweet HD - Skyrim Reshade

Extremely Low performance hit
Runs 2-4 FPS Higher then when you Wrap SweetFX into ENB (Same settings DOF off) I'm not exactly sure why...
Removes washed out "effect"
Removes the fuzziness that FXAA / TAA introduces
Excellent color and fidelity. (Did my best to stay true to Bethesada's vision for the game)
Makes world text and textures "POP!"
No destructive effect on in game menu text
Compatible with all .ESM & .ESP mods
Will work in tandem with most ENB Presets (that use d3d11.dll API Hook)

Anyone have any tips for freesync? Mines capping at 60fps all the time now even indoors in a small inn.

I was able to get it to run above 60 but somethings changes recently - probably my fault.

I've checked that vsync is set to 0 in the ini files and enabled ftrc to 140mhz (using nitro oc+ rx480 and asus mg248q.

Freesync is definitely on as when im on the desktop it shows as such.

I've probably tweaked something or theres been a change since the relive drivers were launched - did a clean install when those came out.

ALT-TAB out then back in. This solves it for me with gsync. You only need to do it once per game.

Also, make sure you are running fullscreen and not borderless.

What does the verdant grass mod offer over the full flora overhaul mod? Is it worth trying?

Edit: Wow, it makes a big difference. The game is looking awesome now. I followed this guide, but missed off a lot of the Oldrim mods as I'll wait and see how many are ported over before messing about.

Also strangely my fps is not dropping below 60 at all now and all I have done from my previous post is add more mods :D. I guess the load order must have been messed up or something.

Looking good. Last night, I jumped on and slapped on a bunch of mods via the in game mod menu. Just for fun. Then I got hooked, so bloody hooked yet again. The main reason being an alternative start, my mind just went wild with imagination and role playing when I selected a Khajiit then saw I could be a guard to a Khajiit camp. And I've endeavoured to stop fast travelling everywhere which I've never done and hugely enjoying. Although I cheated quickly when I forgot something.

Anyway, my question is does this change the default cold and empty feel of Skyrim? I want to add in some flora overhauls as the grass is a bit brassic and the distance trees are nasty.

Can I simply install these mods manually? Or using Mod Organiser without having to remove and re add the mods I've done via the ingame mod menu?

Thanks

The remastered doesn't seem to as far as I have seen. I run it at 99fps.

Good news then!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Falskaar is a seriously impressive mod! I never played it before until now. I've had a few crashes but that's probably due to my rather brash approach at modding this time. Last time, I went through the whole STEP process, cleaning mods as I went etc. This time all I've done is download a load of mods that I like and ensured they're compatible and in the correct load order. It feels so dirty and wrong :D

Me too. I'm about 60 hours into this SSE playthrough and so far I've used fast travel once. I've started setting themes, or challenges in my replay throughs. For example, in my recent Mass Effect trilogy runthrough, I've vowed to not use the interrupts once, and have been playing a mixture of renegade and paragon. I had to cheat to get more reputation points, but when you've completed ME as many times as I have (third insanity runthrough) it doesn't really count as cheating ha.

In Skyrim, no fast travel isn't as bad as it sounds. I don't class using carriages as fast travelling; most of my time spent thus far has been in Falskaar which has no carriages, so travelling from the docks to Amber Creek takes a while...

I'm torn about the carriages, I too think it's allowed, but not sure yet.

Well it costs you coin... so it's a bit more balanced than true quick travel. I found having a horse helped in Falskaar, but the ****** has just bolted off away from a pack of wolves and I could not find the git.

The flora overhaul and grass mod dont take away the games cold and empty feeling imo. They just add in some dense grasses to certain areas. Looks much better in areas where there is loads of open land, like around Whiterun and helps to hide the repeating texture tiles. Once you reach the colder regions up north its still mainly snow and very cold and empty. My screenshots look a little blurry, not sure whats going on with that, it looks better ingame. I think steam must mess the quality up when you take a screenshot. I'm actually using a reshade preset that gets rid of the default blurryness.

Sweet! Looks epic, so you just followed that guide? Missing out which mods? Got a tonne of mods installed through the in game mod manager. Might remove them and use Mod Organiser as I also want to install SkyUI.

I loosely followed it, but missed off the old skyrim mods he uses (he lists them as 'oldrim' in the guide). This includes Noble Skyrim, which I tried and wasn't keen on. I use SSE Texture Pack - Osmodius as my main texture pack, but this is very much personal taste.

I used Vivid weathers at the point in the guide you can choose either that or Climates of Tamriel. I haven't tried COT, so it might be worth trying both to see which you prefer.

I'm using CoT at the moment, awwww yissss it's pretty! I hated it in original Rim. Simply as the sun texture was cack and would shine through mountains. And it didn't look that great.

You weren't running in borderless before were you? Because the recent drivers added freesync for borderless for the first time before that it was fullscreen only. Its been a while but from what I remember Freesync capped it at Vsync i.e. 60fps, I think. You could also check FRTC isn't capping it for the this game or globally iirc.

ALT-TAB out then back in. This solves it for me with gsync. You only need to do it once per game.

You still need to cap the FPS though, remember. Skyrim freaks out about 70-80 IIRC. I run 60Hz so I've never experienced it myself.

Thanks all, the alt tab thing sorted it. I've always set Frtc to match my refresh rate.

Also yeah I was running in borderless mode prior to relive ... doh!

I could have sworn though last night I tried full screen alt tab thingy and still had the 60 fps tried today and getting a smooth 144hz fullscreen :D

Invariably when things go wrong I overcompensate by changing loads of settings including uninstalling a load of mods I though were causing it.

Was there a skyrim update? I heard about there being an invitational 1.3 beta a while back which increased support for 144hz screens.

Rebooted my pc and back to 60fps she goes - even in full screen after alt+tab.

Could anyone running this above 60fps with freesync give me their Crimson/Wattman/Skyrim settings? Thank you.

I noticed that my pref files have been overwritten and the vsync interval thingy was removed.
