The England Cricket Thread

It seems as though with the exception of one or two unplayable deliveries the England batsman have been victims of their own making. Just wafting at balls that should be left or going for shots that just aren't there.

Is it too simple to blame too much white-ball cricket?

You have 1 or 2 tenths of a second to make a decision - white ball instincts will result in test loss after test loss.

Australia completely running away with this game—and it's all over, Australia wins by 146 runs on the third day, with just minutes to spare before stumps!

This is the first time Australia has won the Ashes at home since the last time they won the Ashes at home, amazing scenes!

If I hear the phrase "We have lessons to learn" or "We can take away things to work on" or "Platform to build on", I'll scream.

Anything other than "We let everyone down, we have to apologise to all cricket fans who expected a contest of any kind." Wil be a lie.

Not bad, I scored three from my bingo card.

It's been a really tough tour. We've played good cricket in parts, just not been able to structure a whole game together. It's something we have to learn from and not go away and keep making the same mistakes. It's pretty obvious we need to be putting more runs on the board. Too often we've not given our bowlers enough to work. We've been outplayed in all areas and credit to Australia.

Funny one as root is absolutely fantastic and has a good selection of bowlers in the main, but he has not had a pair of opening batsman or a 3rd man in since he became captain. But also some of his captaincy decisions have led to poor results (not this ashes) where draws could have been wins if be was more aggressive but perhaps he felt he couldn't be because he didn't have the faith in the team.

Really contrasts to the one day and t20 teams where all players seem to have complete and utter faith in each other to deliver results game after game. Something obviously needs to be done, but what that is I'm not sure.
