The England Cricket Thread

Declaring now with Broad and Anderson trundling in at 80mph on a flat track is just bizarre.
I really like it as a move. It shows confidence in defending 380 as a lead, and put in Australia's openers at the trickiest time to bat.

But I do think that it may backfire - I can see Smith batting merrily for two days, Aus putting 600 on the board, and leaving us in a position where we have to bat long, which isn't something we're good at.

I'm there tomorrow though, so am pretty happy about it - it means we have to attack with the ball, so it should be exciting

What the hell.

Old mate got the worst luck of the entire series, and it's only day one!

Rain in Birmingham this morning. Likely to be some cloud cover too. Really unexpected declaration yesterday for sure but the weather turning might make for a really interesting game. I’m back at Edgbaston tomorrow but not optimistic that we’ll see a whole day’s play due to the forecast.

Just about to come on and post this. Weather is prime for some swing today.

Just got to get Smith out. Mainly for my sanity so I don't have to watch his weird pre delivery antics.

Obviously. Bairstow really getting in smiths ear now he's up at the stumps can hear everything.

Stokes is up... Cmon and a new ball. All going on.
