That is remarkable actually.Incredible stat on the radio apparently the Aussies haven't made this many to win an ashes test since 1948 so history is on our side, Keep up the scoring Ollie Robinson!
To be fair a lot of those times they've not needed to.Incredible stat on the radio apparently the Aussies haven't made this many to win an ashes test since 1948 so history is on our side, Keep up the scoring Ollie Robinson!
I don't expect that we'll still be batting by then, but if we're still in at half 5 I reckon we'll give ourselves an hour to run at the Aussies.

Highest run chase at Edgabston:
1. 378/8 ENG v India
2. 283/5 SOUTH AFRICA v Eng
3. 211/3 ENG v New Zealand
Edit: I think there'll be a declaration soon
if theyd have gone on they wouldn't have got any overs in that evening. making the declaration pointless. My only issue with the declaration was not giving Root a couple more overs he was in blistering form and seeing it like a football, 2 over knowing the declaration was coming could have added a vital 20 odd runs to the total for loss of very little time, the lead is edging towards 250 which suddenly sounds more reasonable make it 280 by some miracle and it's game on.
I was just amazed they hadn't chased down something improbable in the intervening years, the sort of total where we already had the champagne on ice they had a habit of dashing our hopes when I was growing up!.

I think you're right, we may declare just by losing the wicketsI don't expect that we'll still be batting by then, but if we're still in at half 5 I reckon we'll give ourselves an hour to run at the Aussies
I've loved every day of this.I think England will snatch the win. It will be close, though.
Interesting to see the Aussie mind set this evening given the weather forecast tomorrow, do they come out and tap it around as usual knowing what could be to come tomorrow or do they look to get a sizeable chunk on the board tonight anticipating little play in very challenging conditions tomorrow....I've loved every day of this.
I still think there's more ups and downs for both of us before the end
I think they'd just go aggressive from the get go. I'd be disappointed if they didn't.Interesting to see the Aussie mind set this evening given the weather forecast tomorrow, do they come out and tap it around as usual knowing what could be to come tomorrow or do they look to get a sizeable chunk on the board tonight anticipating little play in very challenging conditions tomorrow....
Some might say that is playing into Englands hands though, the old school plan would be the normal see of the new ball and then play a few more shots.I think they'd just go aggressive from the get go. I'd be disappointed if they didn't.
Yeah but where's the fun it that? Some might say that is playing into Englands hands though, the old school plan would be the normal see of the new ball and then play a few more shots.
Wonder if they were slight favourites when they had to chase 282 and fell two short at Edgabston in 2005?281 to win.
Bookies got Aus slight favs.
