Morgan was driven at a team level, Butler is driven at a personal level. He seems too soft on others, and probably too hard on himself. If you can free his mind he will be a better player, captaincy seems to weigh heavy. Livingstone seems a natural leader, but his performances over the last year means he is under pressure for his place.
Getting a team ethos is hard, and the old idea of giving captaincy to best player is misguided.
And he can't just blame Butler - having a 4 match warmup series in England is madness when conditions in WI and USA are so different. But money talks so they had pointless warm ups.
I am not defending Butler's captaincy - he does not have good game management or the ability to raise the team. Selection of the playing 11 is usually done by either captain and/or coach depending on setup. Squad is usually done by selectors and coach. No idea how England do it currently. Jordan has been effective in the past and on the slower wickets should suit him, but England do no seem to have a plan. Australia had set plans for every bowler and how to match each batsman. What muppet decided to put Jordan in the team????
Looks like we're gonna get knocked out with two rain-affected matches. That IS unlucky.
Scotland ended up being the unlucky ones. They were probably just ahead against England. But glad South Africa get to face the weaker team in the Super Eights .Looks like we're gonna get knocked out with two rain-affected matches. That IS unlucky.
To fit in with IPL, and England and Australia summer tests windows. Why hold the tournament during the rainy season?
Is it possible to have a statement win against USA?!Proper statement win that. Salt is just a different beast.
This format just doesn't work. The best teams can get eliminated too easily.
Australia are clearly a better team than England yet because we battered the minnows by lots, we go sailing through and they could be knocked out if Afghanistan beat Bangladesh.

A win again the current USA cricket team is never a "statement win". They obviously couldn't cruise or they wouldn't have met the required run rate to qualify.Well Australia could just have beaten Afghanistan and they would be home and dry. Not sure if the Windies count as minnows either, but England also beat them convincingly.
Of course it's possible to have a statement win against the US. England could have just cruised to the target inside 19 overs, but instead knocked off the chase in less than 10 at over 12 runs/over. SA made a bit of a hash of it when they played the State.
Whilst the format and travel arrangements are silly, Australia are out because they lost to Afghanistan and India, not because the format or battering minnows. They have not played anywhere near their best so go home. Maxwell's wicket yesterday sums up their tournament. This format just doesn't work. The best teams can get eliminated too easily.
