The England Cricket Thread

What the hell. I go out for the afternoon, and the entire game is turned on its head!

Batting last on this pitch is going to be a nightmare.

It's not over until it's over. That's the beauty of test cricket.

There's so much time in the game still. A few decent partnerships and England could find themselves making history. Conversely, a collapse could see game over at tea. You just never know. But to write them off this early, it would be unfair.

I hope Burnley Lara bats higher than Ball if required to bat. His potential is wasted at no. 11. :p

England 5 for 113. If this is what the pitch does now, it's going to be pure hell for the fourth innings.

I can't see Australia winning from here. England slow bowlers are too good, and they're going to love the way this pitch is behaving.

200 from here looks competitive but not entirely sure if it'll be enough because that last partnership made it look easy to bat again for a while.

It's too easy now. Although it's not over yet, a victory for Australia is looking inevitable.

England simply blew the opportunity to put pressure on with the bat. So Australia aren't in any rush to chase the remainder of this hugely underpar total. 97 runs off 101 overs is way too easy.

114 at close of play.

Not gonna lie, this is a promising start to our second innings. Great to see Warner in beast mode again.

It's game well and almost truly over.

England played well in some of the sessions earlier in the match but largely it has been a poor display of their skills.

I'm really surprised by the pitch. It looked like a perfect slow ball surface for most of the game, but now they're getting nothing from it.

Oh dear, to lose by 10 wickets is embarrassing. Whatever way you look at it. In the 3rd innings, it looked like an awful pitch to bat on, or at least that is how it was made to look. But in the 4th innings England get blown away. Unsurprisingly or not...

What an awesome debut for Bancroft though. A perfect response for him, given Maxwell's 278 the other day and the talk of Maxwell being in the 2nd test would no longer be a discussion. Unless Khawaja gets the axe. Who knows what the Aussie selectors are going to do.

As for England, Cook needs to stand up. You can't go both innings without making an impact on the game. A 50 would have been handy. Especially when taking into account deliveries faced and allowing the game to be drawn as much as it being won. That didn't happen. So that's disappointing.

England must bounce back or else I fear the worst. Something I said at the beginning of the series.
