The England Cricket Thread

Such a spineless bowling attack. Military medium swing bowling just won't cut it here. We need some shock and awe bowlers. Surely we can breed genuine quicks? Why aren't we producing fast bowlers? Every young bowler wants to be fast.

We suck.

Looks like Smith's strategy is to bat as long as possible tomorrow and aim to win by an innings. If our remaining batsmen can keep England in the field for most of the day, that could definitely happen.

Sure enough, Smith cheekily declares on 649.

Not sure it gives us enough of a lead, but there's plenty of time to find out.

Cook scores his usual 10, and proptly gets out.

2 for 25.

Root will play, but he still needs time to recover. Ali has stepped in.

4 for 115.

England all out for 180, Australia wins by an innings and 123 runs.

4-0 is not a whitewash, but I'll take it.

Our ODI team is different gravy to the test side. Jason Roy 180
True but they haven’t managed to win a major trophy for some time now.

It’s funny how when either side loses the ashes series, they run rampant in the ODI series lol. Not that it matters as the ashes are the series you want to win.

So the ECB have decided that having suspended Stokes from representing England while a potential charge was pending, he's now free to represent England having actually been charged

Can somebody explain the logic to this please.

Affray is about as minor as it gets. They were probably more concerned with the possibility of assault, or ABH. Or just felt the uncertainty was disruptive.

Seems bonkers to me. You ban him when he's not been charged and let him play when he has been. I suspect they didn't think the process would take as long as it has and they thought everything would be done and dusted in a couple of months. Instead they faced the prospect of preventing him from playing for the best part of a year which would appear harsh on somebody that's yet to be found guilty of anything.
