The England Cricket Thread

Plunkett comes back into the team and England win two on the bounce. He provides something very different in the middle overs that England really seem to struggle without. Hopefully the England management realise that just trying to flatten teams with pace isn't the way so if Ali does come back into the team it is in place of Wood, although I think one spinner is enough.

No way Wood or any of the seamers are getting replaced; dude bowls absolute gas and getting the wickets he deserves. Small bit of luck to boot getting Williamson out as well

LOL

Behave.

I said IF. Say the final is played on a dry, turning deck. Who do you leave out for Ali? Or do you leave out Ali? I like Wood a huge amount but just bowling gas doesn't win you world cups, taking wickets does. And nobody does that better in the middle overs than Plunkett.

How many times have we got to lose after dropping him before we realise that? We've won all 5 games he's played in this World Cup and just one of the 4 played without him. Anybody who can't see Plunkett's importance is clueless.

There will be no reason to bring in Moeen other than for his batting; these wickets have all been seam friendly, just look at the stats. Spin across the whole tournament has been dead as

Pakistan to beat the Bangers tonight. India will beat the Lankans tomorrow.

Australia vs Saffers will be interesting, even though it's a dead rubber.

Winning the toss and batting first seems to be a huge advantage in this series.

Cricket can be such a weird game.

So -

India v New Zealand on Tuesday @ Old Trafford

Australia v England on Thursday @ Edgbaston

Will gladly take the Aussies at Fortress Edgbaston

I think Australia is a better game for England in the semi finals. England have beaten then 9 out of the last 11 times they have played in the last 2 years, so should have the confidence, and that record indicates they have the better team.

India on the other hand is a lot closer and they won't be making the same mistake of starting slow like they did the first time around.
