The England Cricket Thread

Australia must surely be favourites after Starc's performance so far and after our capitulation against Sri Lanka.

We've won our last 10 in all formats at Edgbaston and Australia haven't won there against England in ODI since 1993. Khawaja out, Stoinis replaced by another average player in Mitch Marsh as well.

Would say we're very much the team to avoid

^^ This. Odds favour England for sure.

Meanwhile in the women's Ashes, Ellyse Perry has absolutely destroyed England with an epic 7 for 22 wicket haul.

* Australia: 7 for 269
* England: 75 all out

In other news, (Sir) Jimmy-Jimmy is taking a couple of weeks of rest before the Ashes after averaging 9.37 in this years county championship.

Now 10-1 after 7 overs. I know that teams are struggling to chase in this tournament but I feel like in overcast English conditions with the floodlights on I'd want to be bowling first.

Kiwi run rate is barely over 3 per over after 26.

India vs England or Australia in the final then.

NZ will be lucky to get 230 here.

This is gonna be a stroll on the canal towpath with a packed lunch for India with their batting lineup.

Kiwis just have to pray that they got the best of the pitch while it was fresh, and India will be stuck with a bomb-strewn road. They've kept their wickets well, but that run rate is atrocious.

It's going to rain shortly too, that run rate isn't going to be very helpful, even after they've upped it a bit latterly.

Edit:

Ok, it's actually raining, and before they finished their innings. Could be disastrous for NZ if innings are shortened.

Game postponed until tomorrow. I was under the impression that in this scenario the game would restart but instead New Zealand will be carrying on from 211/5 off 46.1 which seems very unfair as players like Taylor have spent a long while getting their eye in and will now need to redo that tomorrow with 4 overs left...

Kiwis finish on 8 for 239. A long way from where they should have been, but at least they added some vital runs at the end.
