Ros (Baroness) Altmann has summed up on Twitter the view of the EU supporting 'elite'

What's it in relation to or otherwise what's her point? MPs may overrule the people they represent by blocking the legislation to leave the EU. My MP is supporting Brexit, if I vote for remain am I overruling my MP by voting to remain?

Precisely. You vote an MP in for their range of views as a whole not on one issue (though i suppose UKIP beg to differ :p).

MP's are not leaders, they are representatives.

But in a referendum MP's are explicitly asking the voters to make a decision on a single issue. They can't then ignore the result if they don't like the answer.

I agree, their opinion counts as much as any other voter: one vote.

They are free to campaign all they want but saying that casting a vote which differs from your elected MP overrules your MP implies that they had authority over you on the matter which they do not. They represent not lead.

Eddie Izzard is a very annoying individual. He probably did a good job of turning 'normal' people off the Remain campaign last night with his odd ranting.
The look on his face when the audience were having none of it. You could tell he was thinking “hold on, I’m spouting lefty platitudes, why aren’t they clapping like sea lions?

The thing that annoys me more than anything is that the main reasons people want to leave is that they want 'control of our borders' and they don't want to have to abide by rules 'imposed by the EU'...

The main reasons.....according to you.

What about protecting our democracy and our right to hire/fire and hold our elected officials to account? That's one of the biggest reasons I'm voting to leave. That and the path the EU is on that I want no part in - further and faster integration, the five presidents report, "harmonisation" of company law, property law, the EU tax identifier number for each individual etc. It's clear the path the EU wants to take, and many people don't like it. It's not just about borders and abiding by rules.

I was howling when that Angela bird said 'lots of male voices interrupting me' and Izzard's face when the camera angle changed.

Also WE ARE ALL BRUSSELS.

They are not going to ignore the result, honestly it's amazing time is being wasted even talking about this.

If the vote is to leave the EU, the country will leave the EU.

Eddie still thinks it's the 90s. Sadly 20 odd years of ordinary people getting progressively worse off while the rich get richer, banks get bailed out of their own mistakes on one hand, but a window tax for others, have rendered liberal ideals meaningless to many.

And i'm a dyed in the wool lefty liberal.

It will be interesting to watch the fallout in here after In wins. 'We had 60%!!111', 'All the people I know voted Out!', 'It's all rigged!!'. :D
