Most people seem to agree that this would be A Bad Thing. There was a Guardian article a few weeks ago which pointed out that some of the border roads weave back and forwards across the border, so you'd either have to have multiple checkpoints within a few miles or you'd have to scrap it and build new roads on each side.

There was also some vague talkabout requiring some agreements in the peace-deal needing to be re-written and re-approved, but I don't remember hearing specifics.

I really hope it doesn't get overlooked and cause any breakdown in the relationship with Ireland. I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of any Irish members here as to what they think, politically and socially.

Personally,i couldn't give a toss what happens to Ireland..all that matters to me is we get out of this EU and take back control,Ireland can be Ireland do sort out their own business.

Nice.
Assuming you're primary interest is in the United Kingdom, you are aware that part of the UK has a direct land border with Ireland, and there could be a political impact of voting leave? That was the point of my question.
Or when you say "I couldn't give a toss what happens to Ireland", do you mean Northern Ireland as well? Because they are still part of he UK and so it won't just be "their business", but ours too.

Enda Kelly (the Taoiseach) wrote an article about it here.

I feel bad for saying this but ...

After remain being accused of scaremongering over terrorism it would be quite funny if brexit did actually increase terrorist attacks due to a failing in Irish peace.

No, but it does claim we send £20b a year to the EU, based on a figure of £350m a week which has been discussed many times as being incorrect.

its only incorrect due to the re-bait that happens as part of the money we send and get back, so in current standing we only send about 150m, Leave the EU we keep the lot 350m, so its right and wrong depending which way you look at it

No, its wrong.

You know part of Ireland is still in the UK right? And that the IRA didn't exactly avoid bombing the UK mainland.

Leave leaflet came through the door today and its most definitely playing on the 350m/NHS angle. Its printed in three different places emphasising the 350m.

The funniest thing was on question time the other night, Cameron preaching the same rhetoric to the audience and when questioned if he would veto Turkey joining the EU he wouldn't say if he would. He just kept saying that it would never happen and would never answer directly if he would veto their entry. Shows what BS him saying that Turkey will never join is.

Another funny one was how he preached that we can't control immigration even from outside the EU. Then dimbleby shot him down saying that it was fully within our governments control to limit immigration from outside the EU yet they never did it. Even when it was part of their manifesto to decrease immigration numbers.

I suppose it depends on whether or not you think sending even one pound a week to the EU is wrong or not. I don't care if it's £350m, or 35 pence, I would rather that money was spent here.

Which Parliament could repeal at any time if it really became an issue.

Here's someone who actually knows what he's talking about, a specialist in EU constitutional law who has advised the Cabinet Office, Parliamentary committees, the BBC on EU legal issues.
For anyone voting - this is the best independent, expert opinion I've heard in the whole debate.

The bit on sovereignty is from 3.20, if you're too lazy to listen to the whole thing;

Britain is a Sovereign state, Parliament is the ultimate law-making authority in the UK.
The EU is not a sovereign entity, never mind a Sovereign state.

Very good :)

The term sovereignty can be abused though. The UK can continue down the EU path and justify every decision based on the fact we are still sovereign. It's death by a thousand cuts.
