Okay fair enough. Three positives of the EU

1) It provides a much needed external influence on our own government
2) It opens up possibilities and opportunities for UK citizens in terms of travel, work and living which would otherwise be more difficult
3) It is a great step towards a level of international collaboration on things like academic research, industry standards, business relationships and trade arrangements

I understand they might not be as convincing as my previous reasons though :p

1) We have more influence over our government with an election every 5 years, we don't like them then boot them out.
2) It has never been hard or difficult to work or reside in the likes of Spain and France. As for traveling we could do that anyway as the British passport is one of the most powerful travel documents in the world.
3) This could be achieved outside the EU and also give use the freedom to corroborate with other countries and businesses that we would otherwise miss due to not being able to do this as an EU member.

I think you misunderstand: I think having the EU as a influencing factor over our own government is a good thing. We already have the power to change our government, I agree but they still do and try to do stupid things. So I think its good that they don't have absolute control.

I don't disagree that the other benefits can be realised outside the EU but I don't think they'd be to the same effect that we have now; nor do I believe we should take the risk to find out and lose what we have now.

1) We invented workers rights and were the first to include non discrimination against women in 1970. Notice the word improved
2) We had consumer rights before the EU. notice the word improved
3) We can trade with whoever we like outside the EU but cannot within the EU. We negotiate better deals as part of a large group than a single nation
4) Environmental policies are down to individual countries to implement, the EU can only advise.Well, the advice has improved protections far more than our government ever did alone
5) Pmsl! :D  It's exactly what we are all starting to do

You know when the Leave campaign talk about 'cutting the red tape that strangles our businesses' they are talking about removing some of these improved protections and rights the EU has implemented, so workers and consumers will be worse off.

Already started, with the push to remove our right to withdraw labor.

No we don't, a small number of people get to decide the elections, and if you voted for a losing person in your area, well, how much influence did you really have. Electing an MEP is way more representative than an MP.
People decry the democracy of the EU, but in many ways it's more democratic than our system.

That C4 debate is borderline car crash TV.

They could replace Paxman with Kyle.

I'd watch that!

"When asked do we send £350m a week to the EU, you said yes. Why'd you say yes Boris?"
"Cuz I was telling the truth"
"Test says you were lying mate"

"Next on the Jeremy Kyle show, David says if we leave the EU, not only will it lead to world war 3, but it will also end the DFS sale."
