in the event of an Out vote, will Cameron & Osbourne /quit straight away?
surely it would not be in the countries best interest to have them stay 1 day longer after an out vote?

Good question really. Would Cameron be trusted to negotiate the exit? Could he remain PM and have someone else head up the negotiation?
Would the Conservatives prefer that to having the uncertainty of a leadership change?

.. Would he have a choice? An enraged public could demand it ...

In summary. No idea.

The negotiation will not be handled by this government but the next.

I can see the next GE after an exit being a split between "we will rejoin the eu" and "we wont rejoin the eu" being the top partty policies

Depends we dont ask politicians to wuit every time something they suport doesnt get voted through do we?

well i can see Gove and Boris still doing ok if we vote remain,
but with the doom n gloom that DC and GO are banging on about i feel like they are hanging themselfs out to dry, and there would be no place for them should we vote leave

God I hope not, that would mean I would be forced to choose for whoever wants to remain out.

I doubt it, personally. Doing it so quickly would be really damaging. However, I do think - if we don't immediately go for the single market/free movement - that will be in the manifesto of at least one party if not next general election then definitely the one after.

They will be gone at rhe election.

But i dont think negotiations will start till after the ge because other wisebit will be 2 differnt govenrlents each doing about a yearnof the negotiation

The ge will be before the exit.

or are you drunk? its ok, you can tell us ;)

Are you saying that because you believe we'll hold an early general election, or because you believe that the negotiations will take us past 2020?

Doh sorry i had it in my headnit was 2017.

**** knows what i was thinking about

Ok lets assume thats true which intellectual forced it through where others failed?

It's not just intellectuals, it's politicians too, the rich and other influential figures. Elites, generally speaking. Look at any turning point in the history of advanced democracies and you will notice that without a strong support from elites, significant changes in society simply do not occur, despite popular support. Strong support for something from elites is an important requirement before decisions are made and the support from elites for Brexit is quite weak - about 20-25% MP support, very low expert support, very low support from cultural/scientific figures.

I'm disappointed to see that StrongerIn is already pretending that Gove said that Brexit will leave to join losses; that's not what he said. Not that you'd know from BBC News. *sigh*
