It's GD, what did you expect ;)

To be honest, if the facts were honestly represented and presented to both sides there would be little room for debate.

I'm on the fence myself, I want to make the right decision for this country, yet no party seems to want to present the honest facts and be self critical about the counter arguments.

I'm not going to bend to propaganda, I'm not going to go with an assumption. I want to see a clear positive and negative argument and make a decision based on the better option.

I'm not stupid, I know there will be downsides either way but I want facts not loosely based opinions.

If you want information rather than memes, animated gifs and GD style hot air there's a thread in Speakers Corner that may be a better proposition, one of the posters there made a keen observation on this thread.

"Personally I haven't decided yet - I am very bored of the know-nothing preachers on both sides in the GD thread - I took a look in and rolled my eyes and the pseudo-intellectual claptrap and downright disdain for the plebiscite in general"

Thank you - the same observation others have made here too lately it seems (or at least that is what I infer from the last page or so)although I have since offered my thoughts here this thread is just fear mongering and snide remarks. I think Stretch has made a strong attempt at impartiality and pushing things forward in SC.

General. Discussion is like a pub chat. You shouldn't expect it to be a perfect example of political debate. Although I do agree the last five pages has gone a bit haywire.

I still believe that this decision is far simpler than either side wants to admit. Either you believe in the globalisation and stronger unity goal of the EU or you don't.

Medium to long term economically it makes little difference if we stay or go.

Social policies, legal systems, immigration, security, terrorism etc etc are where the potential differences lie.

I like how any of you actually think your inconsiquential 9 to 5 wage slave pathetic existences will be any different who ever rules over your mediocre drab lives. Someone has already said British people love being pidgeon holed and ruled by an outdated class system. Better the devils you know than being ruled by jolly foreigners. Wake up morons. You prolly have more in common with millions of eu citizens than any conservative leader. I know the demographic here is young blue and affluent but even Cameron knows staying is the only answer. What a complete betrayer. What mugs brits are voting the same 2 failed party systems in year after year...why even bother? People should embrace the eu and get some new freaking ideas into UK politics. It is so broken and it's all you know. You have nothing to lose but your chains comrades .... lol punctuation is for noobs. 1 finger in bed ftw
.

This is not a general election. But tell me why the other tory MPs are not allowed the same funds?

Oh that's right because Cameron said they can't.

Because as already said, remaining is the official stance of the Government, so the Government gets to use the Government machine.

They have allowed individual MP's a free vote (which is a miracle in itself) but they don't get to use the Government machine, that just seems a normal thing to happen?

Is there an example where an opposition campaign to the Government have previously been allowed access to the funds?

But only the IN is the official stance of the Government

Exactly.

Jeez, sometimes it's like pulling teeth on these forums. :(

But we're not talking about Conservative Party Funds, we're talking about public money. You wouldn't expect the incumbent government to use public funds to campaign for their re-election or to make party political broadcasts would you?

Whilst I have no problem with the government having an official stance and their leader making their PARTY funds only available to those that agree with it, public money shouldn't be used (or restricted) for one side of the argument in a referendum.

That's a fair point, I still don't care though.

Michael Gove is on the other side and because of this he is facing the sack.

The official government line is what funding supports, not the opposition as that would be self defeating and pointless.

Just shows Cameron is running scared
