The Evil Within 2 (Friday 13th October 2017!!!)

Now you can go back with your skills intact and start again. This allows you to max out your character and makes the game a rather different one to play. I did get a bit bored though.

Just finished this, took around 25hrs.

What a fantastic game, absolutely one of the best of the year for me.

And the ending....... brilliant !!

Travesty it did not sell by the bucket-load.

Yeah i loved the end too, took me just over 35hrs to finish
thought the Kidman bit was still a cut scene, until i noticed she wasn't moving, and the HUD appeared top left, then i was shouting, Im Kidman!, Im Kidman! when i realised :D

I'm really struggling to enjoy this one. I liked the first half I guess, the best bit is early on exploring the township but I'm finding it a chore to play at the moment. Hit chapter 14 last night so pretty sure/hopeful that I'm close enough to the end to see it through

The gameplay is Good, but I haven't found it to be a horror game at all really. It's story has fallen way to far in to B movie territory for me which is a shame but that may be a pro to some?

I like the ammo scarcity etc that's Good, adds some tension if artificial

Yeh im completely with you pal, I just cant get into it properly.
On chapter14 too and looking forward to the end........real shame.

I absolutely love the first one aswell, this one just seems to of lost something major for me.

I sort of dropped right near the end of the first for similar reasons, just find both are too long. A stupid complaint I guess but I prefer a well paced game to one that feels padded out

Sorry to hear that lads. I was completely the opposite for both games - I was strictly one chapter per night to make the games last longer as I didn't want them to end!

That's cool mate it seems mixed so I'm glad you got a great time out of it, different strokes etc! It's not a bad game, it's just not quite what it could have been, for me.

We need more games in this genre imo

I can kind of understand the opinions of the first one dragging and the second one not really being a horror game. First started out strong but i did think it was a chore towards the end and wanted it to end. The second i enjoyed much more but i suspect because the controls seemed more streamlined and it wasnt really a horror game, more an action game with 'horror' elements.

Think the second game is soo much more grounded and boring compared to the first.

Every chapter in the first game was very different from the last and you just didnt have a clue what was going to happen.

Defo not the case in this one, its not bad tho and i will see it to the end. But the first one I couldn't put down till I finished it......twice.

Absolutely this. Since Dead Space fizzled out and Resident Evil has went in another direction we really are starved of games in the this genre which also happens to be my favourite type of game.

I agree though that they're not really that scary. I find if can you fight back in games then I don't tend to be as scared. I find games like Outlast and Alien Isolation to be truly terrifying. The only game I found on that sort of level of terror, where you are also armed, was Cry of Fear - man the atmosphere in the game was something else.

Edit: Oh and F.E.A.R also had some seriously scary parts - I think that was because they were so few and far between that they always caught you of guard...

I must try Cry of fear, that's the one made as a source mod isn't it?

I agree, the tension in the games you mentioned really takes it to another level. I wasn't overly fond of outlast but loved alien for the most part! SOMA is Great, good story too
