The Evil Within

i'm carrying on but it's hard work, the hardest so far is that bloke with the box on his head, having to turn off the poison gas valves whilst he chases you, i think that's close to the hardest i've ever gamed, you just die all the time.... in that area i had no ammo, because he goes down quite easily from the sniper rifle, it took me 2 hours to get out of that area

i suppose it's quite good really, but the lack of ammo is a real pain.

Shoot the hidden statues (some are in the open most are hidden in the scenery or above your head there are 48 to find they contain keys which unlock ammo lockers in the area with the room & save point you enter when you go near a mirror & enter via the white light ;) to transport back to the main hospital hub. Once you unlock all those 48 lockers you also gain a special weapon for the next playthru.

Also everytime you disarm the red traps you gain material to construct ammo for the crossbow...that is the key to making the game less challenging along with upgrading your character by collecting that green brain matter & using it in the chair machine!

Once you start to upgrade the character attributes & use matches to burn bodies instead of wasting ammo on them it becomes much easier also smash the wooden crates & anything else which looks breakable as they also contain ammo/health/green brain matter the game calculates how much you have & gives you something your short of usually.

This game is so much easier once you upgrade & perform headshots or shoot the legs they go down then you can burn with matches ;) (the way the game is designed to be played at times).

it's deffo getting better, i never even knew you could break the boxes i hardly ever noticed them before...he's getting upgraded ok.

the game is very similar to FEAR and Silent Hill/Resident Evil............it has too many dark hospital corridors, lunatic asylums, blood soaked sewers, spooky nurses.

it's not my definition of horror at all, you just make a mistake/ get killed by a trap and think, ``damn it i'm dead, i never saw that``..... the game has no tension, no build up in terror and no Claustrophobia..... you just suddenly notice a boss fight about to start and go, ``he looks bad, have i got enough ammo``

you're always hunting for ammo and this reduces your fear quite a lot

Wait til Chapter 10 boss that bit can be annoying.... :p

i had a really tough fight against that woman/ spider thing

3rd person is dreadful because he blocks your view especially in this dark area...also, unless you stand in just the right location you cant move those levers or climb ladders, she kills me every time i miss the ``space`` command, this is 100% annoying.

That part is easy you just walk down the ladder run to the lever wait for her to appear then pull the lever. Repeat 3 times she burns!

i cant kill that chapter 10 boss, that's it game over... it's too hard for me :(
as soon as you really HIT HIM HARD he knows where you are, you cant hide from him anymore... because before this you could hide in those rooms ok.

even if you lay a trap for him and you're around the other corner hiding, he still knows where you are........ he then eats me every time  i cant escape from him, the closest i get is to freeze him first, but he's just got far too much health

Sorry guys it's just awfall.... he's only picking up 2 bullets at a time, the shotgun is always empty... every fight is hard work

it's so confusing the way the game jumps back and forth for his upgrades, it's just a total mess, this game is not a smooth running shooter, it's slow and lumbering and really bad in 3rd person, he cant pick up stuff easily in a fight, he's always facing the wrong direction, blocking the camera, turning in circles, running 15 feet and then stopping with the enemy right behind him.

a good horror shooter is nothing like this, this is the worst game i've ever played...easily

It's not a shooter!

I started the game yesterday and enjoyed the opening bit of play against the chainsaw wielding brute - after a few tries that is. At first I think it's quite difficult to understand what your character can and can't do in this game. In chapter 2 it wasn't immediately apparent that a straight up fight doesn't work against the first enemies you come across. It also isn't clear when you first get the gun that ammo is going to be sparse, so I shot the monster (what do we call them?) about 4 times. As ammo is so sparse, and punching is ineffective, I do think there should be some simple melee weapons (even just a bit of wood) to fight with if you fail at sneak attacking. Once a sneak attack fails, you're dead.

As you can see, understanding the general mechanics of the game has been a bit of an issue for me, but now at the beginning of chapter 3 I think I 'get it'.

I have also found that the FOV is quite bad, but only when crouching, as it's very hard to see what's happening above the long grass when walking along.

After playing shooters all the time you have to reprogramme your brain to learn how the controls work here, because it feels so totally different..... it's far slower and sluggish than any other game i've ever played, but you do get used to it.

the bosses you're fighting right now are dead easy compared to the chapter 10 boss.... it took 2 evenings to kill him and only after i found out how to do it on a forum late last night :eek: i almost deleted the game earlier tonight until he suddenly stopped running at me and died... i thought ``what  i dont believe it he's dead`` :D:D

i cant wait for FAR CRY 4 because it'll be dead easy compared to this nightmare.

Completed it earlier, thought it was a great horror game especially after recent patch would give it 8.5/10 maybe 9.One thing i really liked is the scenery and imagination put into some areas like Silent Hill...it was very varied.

I am waiting for the DLC as it will unveil more of the story hopefully.

Took me 14 hours and i died 75 times hahaha. :D (most of those running into traps or the chapter 10 boss!)

i will have another go at killing him once i've finished the game and my weapons are upgraded much more

Thought as they had pathced it to run at 60 fps, I would give it a review:

:)
You need to play until at least chapter 4 or 5 to review this game the first few chapters are really a slow burn gentle pace tutorial it gets much better some of the later levels are as good as the earlier Silent Hill/Resident Evil games IMO ;)

Fair but I honestly didn't feel it at all. I have been playing Alien Isolation and that has my heart racing and so much more atmospheric. I will give it another chance and take your advice on plodding through :)

you should've played it all but to be honest it doesn't get any better... it's a very long game...tedius and it looks very bad when you're outside in the ruined city, because this is where you notice just how bad the graphics is.... the skyscrapers/streets/ cars, just look total rubbish............. 60fps max you're kidding, this is an easy 160 fps game..... simply because it has no detail in it at all.

no ammo !!!! this just drives me crazy because this is the game's worst fault, i'm on chapter 13 and i dont think i can be bothered to carry on, i'm just so bored of it.

he cant run without getting tired out, he gets in the way of the camera, cant swap weapons because every one is bloody empty all the sodding time, and keeps getting blown up by extremely annoying traps..finally, the story is very confusing with the game jumping back and forth all over the place, to be honest i have no idea what he's trying to do

i'm going to start ``lords of the fallen``, i didn't spend all that money on my new rig to play rubbish like this
