The FA CUP Fourth Round 27/28/29 January *** Spoilers ****

It is? How is a keeper making a mistake any worse than a striker not scoring an easy chance?

Keepers just get victimised by the media more. Welbeck has missed some incredible chances this season yet keepers (especially young ones new to this country) are expected to be absolutely perfect in front of a **** defence and a **** midfield. That's just moronic. Worse is the fans that seem to be getting on his back now.

You were better in Possession yes, Did you do anything with it? NO, So doesnt automaticly mean you should win the game.

Find me where I said it did? At no point have I said we should have won the game, all I've said is that we were the better of the two teams and deserved at least the draw. I don't think that can be denied tbh

If a striker keeps missing open goals then it's comparable to a keeper making howlers that directly cost goals. A striker missing a one-on-one is comparable to De Gea not saving Kuyt's goal at the end; could have done better but not a howler as such.

If you're suggesting that Welbeck's missed chances that are comparable to some of De Gea's mistakes then fair enough but I can't say I've noticed it.

Not at all  Strikers are overwhelmingly favourites in one on one situations.

It would be interesting to see the actual success rate for one-on-ones in the premier league. I'd be surprised if more than half are scored. But I bet a PL keeper would save Kuyt's shot more often than not.

That first goal was just a case of smothering the goalie (because hes weak) and heading the ball in.

Im just point out you werent really better either, Both of us were poor. Draw would have been maybe the fair result and tbh i had a feeling that was how it would end but in no way would i say you were better.

But how many times do UTD nick games at the end or in Fergie time so its justice :p We win happy days :D

Oh he lost track of him completely, come on.

So you'd prefer for a player to concentrate on the man they're marking rather than pay any attention to where the ball's going? :o

We're not in Italy where they deploy such tactics, Carrick had him tracked until they went into the crowd scene and he was blocked off. Your continual need to pick fault with him is really bordering on obsessive now

From what I've noticed he tends to come running off the line looking to win a freekick from the referee rather than to actually deal with the ball, if he's not going to be assertive then he'd may as well stay on his line.

I think teams have realised that he doesn't like to be crowded on set pieces, it just seems to distract him and he gets caught out in no mans land.

The 2nd Liverpool goal I don't think too many goalies could have done much with, Dirk took it extremely quickly and with good pace.

Its just the other nervous and odd choices De Gea makes thats the issue.

And when he passed straight to Downing in our half? Let me guess was that Evra's fault too? Or De Gea's?

Yep, he was more concerned with trying to barge Carroll out of the way than where the ball was for our first goal. I'm not sure why we stopped crowding him from corners in the 2nd half though.

I think it's more than just the physical pressure now though; he dropped a coupel of straight forward crosses in the 2nd half under no pressure at all. He's shot of confidence and as I said earlier, being in and out of the side isn't helping him.
