The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

What's your budget, and how casual are we talking?

Something like chelsea boot is nice because you can wear them with jeans and a shirt and look smart.

Zara is good for leather stuff, because 99% of it is all made in Portugal (as opposed to India, China, Vietnam etc where other high street brands have their stuff made).

I just wash my jeans regularly, then replace them if they become rubbish .

Decent denim doesn't need washing regularly and doesn't benefit from it, it makes it worse.

I'm not talking £200+ crazy japanese denim either, just decent jeans.

As long as you don't wear them to death five days in a row without airing them out there won't be any smell, you won't look like a tramp and they won't be worn out and threadbare.

If you wash your jeans once a week they'll be shagged out in six months.

Bought this Selected Homme jacket yesterday from a local shop: http://selected.com/selected/outerw...89_colorPattern=16030189_DarkNavy&forceScope=

Really an awesome jacket and it's an anthricite colour which in the darkness looks blue/grey and in light looks blue/steel. I haven't seen a jacket colour like it before, and it definitely stands out if you take a long look, while staying low-key.

The terrible photo doesn't do it justice at all, colour looks all wrong. I may take a photo myself instead.

I also saw they do this one too with a darker blue navy colour and a slightly different velvet design on the shoulder... also very nice. http://selected.com/selected/outerw...89_colorPattern=16030189_DarkNavy&forceScope=

Mine goes really well as a smart casual jacket with almost any colour shoes, and guaranteed you won't see many around as the design is unique vs the usual quilted jackets being churned out at the moment by all the other brands.

UniQlo sale, might get a couple of the cashmere jumpers as they're reasonable quality for a decent price. I have a couple already in brighter colours I just wear round the house because they're nice and warm but I want something I can wear over a shirt/button-up, plus they're size S which isn't that fitted (I'm more an XS now I'm half-way to getting shredded, honk honk).

Logic = dark grey and navy would be the most versatile?

I figure a burgundy red would work too but they don't have any in that colour.

I like this, what are the sizing like?

No mediums left in stock, which is a shame as I think a large may be too large.

Anyone have any experience of TM Lewin? I am looking for some new work shorts and they have 4 for £90 on, but their "slim fit" 14 1/2" collar has a chest of 42! now to me that is now a small/slim fit. I am a 36-37" chest at most. Finding nice shirts is a PITA!
