The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

:D

I thought you said age 25-30 not 50+ ? Those look like something that my dad would wear.

They must be the most bland, boring and generic jumpers I have ever seen!

They are a classic, timeless style, the same thing you see on multiple fashion websites. If you don't know how to wear them then you're either too young to have got out of your teenie fashion phase, or you don't have a concept of the more classic style. Simples.

Ralph Lauren, Boss et al specialise in exactly the same, just with a little logo on them. They are better without the logo.

I have had a pair of Vibram FiveFingers for just over a year now but not really getting chance to wear them much. When I have worn them I get so many mixed views: From people loving them or either generally just taking the **** out of them. I think they are better than crocs any day!!...

My questions is.... Has anybody got these and what are peoples responses have you've had?

A couple of years back my mate pointed out someone wearing a pair of white ones in the slug & lettuce and asked what I thought of them??
I said they look ridiculous its like his come out with a pair of bloody veruca socks on!
He then proceeded to cover me in beer as we pished ourselves laughing :-)
But hey each to their own, but personally I think they look nasty, especially the white ones!

That's a pretty ignorant and arrogant statement, people have different tastes, just because I think they are incredibly bland and boring does not mean I "don't have a concept of the more classic style". It just means I like different things. In this case that means I don't want to dress like a 50 year old. :p

It's not ignorant (lol) or arrogant, it's factual. They ARE a commonly accepted and defined classic style, that's not even a debate.

If you don't like it, fine, but to say it isn't classic fashion is showing a lack of knowledge of the subject matter.

As for them being bland and boring... hourses for courses. Put one on with a white shirt and chinos/smart jeans and nice loafers/shoes when you go to a smart casual, and providing you will get some nice female attention.

It's just one of many variations of style and options in a wardrobe, and should be treated as such.

I saw an absolutely gorgeous tweed one in Burberry the other day. Was heavenly soft as well.

Was the outlet as well, so about £300 (50% off), but I still didn't really want to stretch to it. But dear god, blazers are so useful.

Where did I say it was not "classic fashion"?

I implied it was crap, which implies that classic fashion is crap, not that the shirt is not classic fashion...

Blazers are absolutely indispensible, I wear them so much now that I really should start investing in around 4 or 5 quality ones of various colours. I have a black cotton one which looks awesome with tshirts, shirts, jumpers... and I want a Navy one, a Grey one, and maybe a tweedie style one also.

Topman seem to have some pretty decent models, in fact I would say as far as price/performance goes I cannot find any better at the moment. if they have a sale on them then I will pick up a couple for sure. http://eu.topman.com/webapp/wcs/sto...2993&categoryId=1507087&refinements=category~[1507093|1507087]&intcmpid=eud_homepage_heroimg_fri_blazers

EDIT - 20% off apparently.

Massimo Dutti also have a great range with great materials, but pricier. http://www.massimodutti.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category/duttigb/en/30220002/792035/Blazers

Burtons has sale items too http://www.burton.co.uk/en/bruk/category/clothing-281559/mens-blazers-281866

Ok, whatever you say... :)

PS: It was a jumper, not a shirt.

Well, I dont know if H&M are the same in the UK as here in Switzerland, but I got three cracking blazers today, wool blend, a reasonably heavy black one (£35), a medium-weight grey one (£35), and a lovely navy one (100% wool for £65) with subtle red stripes and detailing. All will look awesome with the right shoes and a t-shirt underneath.

Also Massimo Dutti sale is on and some nice blazers there too, and I also bought two nice belts from them today.

Ahh, I love sales. :D

Hi all.

I'm looking to buy a Barbour jacket that has been discontinued. I've been in touch with Barbour and they don't have stock left anywhere as the coat is a few years old now. Aside from Ebay, does anyone have any suggestions where I could look for one?

If you type BARBOUR DUST BLACK JACKET MCA0112 in to Google it should come up.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Basically if you can't find the jacket for sale (in UK/USA etc) via Google using the model name and number, then you're screwed.
