The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

If the 7970 can achieve ~30% performance from overclocking with the reference cooler and if it came out before the 680 so they could clock to whatever it takes to win at stock frequencies and if they price it to compete with the 7970, does anyone give an IF what stock results they give?

We know nothing of how they match up yet I think.

Im just looking at stock to be honest. I have never overclocked a gpu I know there are a lot of people who will overclock gpus which makes your point perfectly valid but from my point of view there are probly quite a few who dont and just keep it at stock

People keep saying the gtx680 is nvidias mid range which is hilarious. Its the best chip they have ready end of story. If it was called gk114 then they would be correct as the gk112 will be the daddy. This is all they have and the best they have so its there highend. Theres already rumours of amd having a faster core available but nobody is saying that tahiti is mid range.

The gtx680 looks like a stripped out pure gaming card v amds fully functional all rounder. So its no surprise its smaller and uses less power to get the job done.

It will be interesting to see what this txaa is all about as it sounds really good and could well give nvidia a nice lead.

Not really.
We're supposed to be on 28nm for another gen, refine the GK110 and bang, GTX780.

That's only going to make it easier for Nvidia.

It's GK104, wasn't the 104 lable has always been used for mid range cards.

The cynic in me thinks Nvidia had nothing to counter Tahiti in Jan, and have re titled their GK110 that was coming out in Jan to "GK104", overclocked the nuts off it and are releasing now.

Think about it, if people who choose Nvidia think mid range Kepler is this good it keeps their interest right? Folks will think if GK104 is this good, GK110 must be amazing? You follow?
