US: The Flash (2014)

Nope and I hope that's the last we see of them.
The man can dodge bullets. Hell, he can run so fast that he can achieve time travel, but this pair of nobs pose a threat because they have a flamethrower, an ice gun and no tactics except standing in the middle of the street spouting the crappiest dialogue in the comic book universe...

dont get me started on the flash punches lol.!!! :D

Thought the whole cliff hanger from the last season was swept under the carpet a bit too easily too. Quite disappointing :(

LOL I have said it before. I think they are in the show for that purpose as a throwback to the villains in the comics. The storylines that involve them are not really part of the story ark but they are wheeled out when they are required to be the sort of running joke.

Yeah, I'm not even going there with the flash punches.

No spoiler required there mate. I agree totally. I was expecting a lot more after that cliffhanger too.

I kind of get that, but they just didn't pull it off IMO. It was just stupid.
Gotham gets that kind of comic stuff right, while maintaining a bit of grit. Well, it did after it found it's footing anyway.

I have to disagree, I like the comic book atmosphere they bring. Gotham is a very different style of show.

Anyway, great start to s2.

Yes, it's a different style of show and I'm not saying it should be like it.
I'm just using Gotham as an example of how to integrate a bit of comic book silliness without going full retard.

Every set piece involving those two has been dumb beyond belief.

I would be mega mega ****** off if I was Grant Gustin right now, knowing I was playing the part but had been overlooked to star in the film and replaced with this dude.

Having the same character in the TV show and the movie would be messy. There's a reason why Marvel have kept it to a minimum.

It would have been cool to have the movie version of The Flash as Wally West, with the odd reference to his uncle, but it's a bit late for that now. In the movie universe, Superman is the first super-powered being that the public know about. There's no room in the continuity for Barry to predate Man of Steel. Same goes for The Flash (TV) coming after Man of Steel - if Superman already exists, meta humans wouldn't be such a surprise. They would have to retcon so much to get the two to fit. Then there's issues with the villains and the wider cast. The Arrow and The Flash are set up in such a way that they rattle through villains and have introduced a wide array of supporting characters. These would either have to be carried forward to the movies, or the characters would have to be retconed. It's just too messy to pull off.

TBH it's probably better to avoid the mess and just keep the two separate. Unfortunately it does mean Stephen Amell's Green Arrow is unlikely to appear in Justice League (too complicated to make it work, unless it's two different Oliver Queen's played by the same actor, which would be confusing), and that Matt Ryan's John Constantine is maybe a no-go for Justice League Dark (they could probably work around that though).

That's how you do an episode of comic book goodness without going too far and only one scene of usual CW junk.

And yeah on the movie front it would have been far easier on all sides if either the show or the movie used Wally West instead but given the current powers that be at DC's clear hate for any character established (or took up an existing heroes mantle) after 1984 it probably isn't going to happen.

The cheese in this show is at breaking point for me. If Cisco stopped acting like a child in ToyRus it might be more bareable. That said, the old guy is almost as bad with his " I've just come up with a super science thought, all listen to me" Blah blah blah.

I'm losing interest quickly.

Yet, no doubt, you'll still force yourself to watch it every week and then come here to inform us about how much you hate the show?
