The Flash (2022)

Saw some rumors that we're finally going to get the Superman we've been waiting years for

This is what I think the man himself will think if he ever sees it ;) :p

Read a coupe of non spoiler reviews, and Keaton is indeed the best thing in the movie. Surprise package being Supergirl. Miller is terrible by all accounts and once you get past the nostalgia hit with Keaton (would be perfect in a Batman Beyond movie just a shame that will never happen under Gunn's plans) it's a bit of a mess, fun but messy seems to be the consensus from the reviews I've seen.

Oh and the cameo I spoilered above is indeed there :D

I saw it at lunchtime today.

It was well paced fun and enjoyably light hearted but with serious elements. Not so much messy but had to fit a huge amount of content and concepts into it.

Way better than a lot of the Phase4/5 MCU.

Objectively, I thought Miller's performance was good, as was Calle as Supergirl.

Keaton was brilliant.

There is a very end of credits scence which is worth waiting for.

Well worth a second viewing

Spoilers below if you must.

There are various cameos as the universes collide including c60 sec of Nic Cage as superman. You also get Adam West's Batman, Reeve and Slater as Superman / Supergirl etc.

George Clooney as Bruce Wayne in the ending 'Fixed' universe rather than Affleck was amusing.

I enjoyed this more than I have recent Marvel films

The George ending was brilliant, when at first they didn't show Affleck I wasn't sure if they were going to bring in Robert or recycle Christian. I'm surprised they didn't use this as an opportunity to kill off Ezra and introduce a new character as the Flash

They really went overboard on the jokes, my screening at 8:40 had a combined total of 10 of us. I don't think any joke landed besides me letting out a little snort during the 'Aquaman' phone call where flash says something like ' you're married to a mermaid princess' and it pans over to an older woman on a chair.

For some reason I initially thought the entity that pushed Flash out of the time travel sphere was a Parademon, had a vaguely similar look for a moment I thought.

You get Nic Cage and the Thanagarian snare beast (finally), a cg Chris Reeve, George Reeves etc.

It was ok I thought, it just went a bit mental near the end. Supergirl was pretty good as was Keaton's Batman, but they're now dead in that universe so be interesting to see if Supergirl was popular among movie goers and how they could bring her back if that's the case. I like how they gave the 89 Batman movie a nod by having the batwing in front of the moon for a few seconds.

The big Kryptonian guy got more screentime, some of which was basically what he done in Man of Steel recycled, taking a running jump onto an aircraft and attacking the pilot, what's her face (Faora??) may as well not even bothered showing up for this as she was on the screen a few seconds at most.

Overall I enjoyed it, but Jesus Christ, enough with the cringey attempts at humour, it seemed like every couple of minutes there was some ham fisted joke you could see coming a mile away being attempted.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected and felt emotional a few times

Same just out of the Cinema and for me the parts they did well they did very well. There was a few areas could have been better. Movie was loaded with nostalya and fan service. Not complaining as it ticked all the boxes for me. Overall 7/10.

Michael Keaton was the main draw for me. Sasha Calle was good too. :D.

Pretty awesome I thought. I would only put Man of Steel, BvS and Justice League (both versions) above it. Apart from that this is the best DC for a long time and I seriously doubt that Blue Beetle or Aquaman 2 will change that.

Always had a soft spot for Helen Slater as Supergirl, but the new one was just as good, in a modern way.

just saw it today some good laughs, Keaton was on fire. 7.5 out 10. we see where it goes as director has stated he won't replace Miller, and whether sasha calle will make more appearance as supergirl.

as other have pointed out there were number version of character shown, i believe they used various archive footage with cgi to either enhance / clean up etc, notable og superman, one character scene i believe is taken from the flash 2014 series as it had one of John Wesley Shipp version of flash, the retro one with the metal hat with lighting bolts on it top. but no Grant Gustin version of the flash was seen.

Take away the nostalgia from the cameos and it was just another competently executed throwaway superhero film that felt like it was churned off a production line. I guess that’s it for this version of the DCU now (although isn’t there still an Aquaman film to come?). Wouldn’t have minded a conclusion to the Snyderverse JL / Darkseid thing (hate unfinished stories) but hey ho, on to the next bazillion movies.
