The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

For anyone wanting to put this in a custom loop there is a Fury X in the B-Grade section for £499, may have been returned because of the pump whine issue?

Hurray!.

"Following extensive tests by our Returns staff, this item was found to be faulty. Therefore a refund will be issued once the RMA has been closed."

No prizes for guessing which card :p, maybe they liked by sarcastic review of the card I left on the note in the box I sent it back in. :D:D:D

If I could get a guarantee that it doesn't have any pump whine/high pitch noise issues I would buy it right away!

Found two other online retailers which have cards in stock (Asus and Sapphire), don't know what to do...so worried to get a noisy card for the third time :(

Like me tbh, i know where they are in stock, but im waiting for my pre-ordered, around end of the month, as better chance of it being a non whiner :p

Mind you, im probably going to switch it to a non X tomorrow, if theres a decent supply of them, which its sounding like there will be.

Quick question if i may guys,

Just trying to see what sort of scores i can get in Heaven Valley when overclocked and it's failing, but i've noticed that any crashes i have in games or benchmarks when overclocked such as this, it's not giving me any "Driver stopped responding" message, instead my system just shuts down and restarts.

Could me thinking as to whether my PSU is up to the task, EVGA NEX650G.

My CPU is @4.6 @1.32v, have 3 fans in the system, 2x Corsair SP's on the rad cooling the water for my cpu, 200mm phanteks up front, XSPC Dual res and pump, 2 SSDs and of course the Fury X.

Checking EventViewer shows a lot of critical events "Kernel Power".

Am i asking too much?

funny you should say that, because with new drivers amd got rid of driver stopped working stuff and just went to plain system restart with 'Drivers stopped working' message in event viewer ;)
There is an old bug in current drivers with folding and flash content on the web. It crashes the system. With beta driver it was just driver crash, not the system crash.
My PSU is Seasonic 1250W, so I cannot blame it for crashes.

We put software engineers on optimising our video memory usage in our Catalyst drivers to make 4GB HBM sufficient for 4K. I mentioned it here a while back, but people were skeptical then that i was simply lying.

Matt, I understand, but how come GTA V is telling me that I have 8Gb of VRAM? And that GTA V is using all of it? As I said it runs butter smooth (except in the menu, please look into this).

You will get plenty of skeptics even in this thread. Just ignore them, and do what you do, keep optimising.
I do hope you guys will take a look in my issues, reproduce and sort them out.

Indeed!,

I still want to support AMD in the future, but for the love of god test the cards before sending them to the retails if all the reviewers report horrendous whining sounds.

The amount of cases of this is terrible considering how few are about (I'd like to see the percent impacted statistics). All it's done for many is make them regret taking the plunge.

In reality, delaying the launch until the issue was resolved & stock was ready would have gone a long way to saving face.

Seems the fury x2 is going to have lower clock speeds that the single gpu's. Unusual for them to say something months in advance of a launch, 0_o

Starts talking about it at the 14:12 mark

You have 2 gpu's so it sees 8 gigs of vram instead of 4. Same with my 295x2 it says i have 8 gigs as well.

same with my previous 2*7970's in crossfire GTA 5 shows 6 GB vram.

about that dual furys running lesser, I may just get another Fury x , was going to get a Fury X x2 I am going to see what the difference is on release.

"was just to buy a Fury X x2 to go with my Fury X"

What I took from that is that it's going to be a downclocked Fiji chip, probably a Fury Pro too (which isn't too bad, still be a whoop-ass card!). If you notice, he says 'based on Fiji' and doesn't mention the FX

Doesn't make much sense to me, they put 2 much hotter cores on the 295x2 without any downlocking, in fact they were overclocked compared to reference 290x cards. If fiji is more thermally optimised then its odd they wouldn't go the whole hog, unless they're targeting a lower price point.

Or maybe he's just saying one thing while they do the other, its really weird they would talk about the dual card this early in advance of its launch.

Fingers crossed lads please. Had a notification my sapphire has been shipped from ocuk. Won't be able to play till Thursday tho! :'(
Fingers crossed indeed, hope you get a good one mate, I had to go through the RMA process for one recently & was very disappointed.

It was also a major hassle removing a fan, installing it - then removing the AIO cooler.

Yeah thanks, typical the day I go away, it gets sent though! Was yours from ocuk or competitor?

Hoping since its one of the later ones its the updated version :/

Will report back either way though
