The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

GPU scaling in GTA V would have given you more than 42 average with two TITAN Blacks, Andy. You need go grab another to make it worth while ;)

I'm a little bothered about aesthetics tbh. Maybe I will get one next month, because in the mean time AMD have time to work out overclocking (well, the dude who writes AB) and I can get another X :)

I would much rather get another X, for the cooling over anything else.

Did you want one then?

Any way, aside from that I just benched GTAV. I made sure the weather was the most punishing, then ran a 90 second benchmark driving around the town. Pic (note Photobucket will destroy it)

And...

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
4710, 90000, 45, 61, 52.333

As you can probably guess I am absolutely stoked. It ruins my Titan Blacks. They would go from anywhere between 37 and 52 FPS with a 42 average, now, even in the rain I'm getting 50s. Amazing card for 4k you really can't go wrong :)

Yeah i want one, ive got one on pre-order, that sounds great for 4k, i get mostly around the 50s on my 290X, just about maxed out at 1440p, just got the MSAA off, and the Grass Quality on High, drops to around 46 when theres a lot of traffic about, but runs great, and smooth as hell using FreeSync :)

Theres a competitor now got the non Xs in, had them dated for sometime in August.

See how long they last.

Yeah :(

Must be more to it than HBM, as theres more Furys than Xs.

Might also be a yield issue. The Fiji is a much bigger GPU than AMD are used to, and compared to the GM200 the transistor density is higher which lowers yields.

Then there is the water pump issue.

It's worth the wait dude. Yeah yeah, the 980ti is faster, but I've not heard it make a sound yet.

I don't use MSAA at 4k. There really is no point, FXAA does the trick more than good enough. If I sit and stare at it or take a screenshot with FRAPS and blow it up I can see some jagglies, but certainly nothing you would ever notice when playing the game. I mean you need to look super hard.

But I'm really taken aback by the 4k performance in GTAV. I will have a look at Pcars next :)

:D

Well I did it. I benched the AMD and FRAPS hater. First I picked the most abysmal weather conditions I could, just to punish the card. I'm talking thunder, lightning the lot.

This is max settings btw.

2900, 60000, 42, 56, 48.333

Awesome...

What's stopping you, an AMD fetish....

Im thinking about it, there's also the fact that its a £1k outlay for 2 of them as 1 will be a bit slower than a 295x2 depending on the game. So it doesn't make much sense just to get one for a sidegrade for the most part and an upgrade in the games that crossfire doesn't work.

As i was talking about with loadsa it also comes down to acoustics, 2 triple fan coolers isn't ideal for multi gpu due to heat rising and the top card getting hotter and generally louder because of that.

I don't have a preference for either company, just whatever makes more sense at the time.

So i don't get why Reviewers have the performance of it so low.
