The GeForce GTX 1080 Is The Best Selling High-End Card Ever Released – AIBs Confirm

Oh dear even more people to be upset when Nvidia drop the price and release a much more powerful card at the same price ;)

Doubt it. If this article is 100% true then clearly if there is such a huge demand for £600 to £700 mid range cards then the enthusiasts will lap up £1000 1080ti :p

rabid fanboys go both ways my friend, the statement isn't from Nvidia, it isn't from AIB, it's from an unknown source(supposedly close to an AIB), but one thing is sure nobody is taking credit or responsibility for it, in any other thread this would be treated as a Rumor, but not here, this is hard cold truth, straight out gospel :D.
i am skeptic and honestly do not believe it, simply because of the reality in front of my eyes, and the context in which this apears, while concern rises about stock, and general fanboy conviction that it's not lack of stock but rather univers shattering sales that Nvidia cannot keep up with, and just happens an article that no official party backs up by a confirmation or numbers, says just what ppl wants to hear.
if reality showed me something else, if the context was different, if the company's prior didnt give me reasons to doubt with similar behaviour, i would'v taken the article by it's face value, sadly i do not :D
besides just quick browsing on the internet and you can see what ppl wanna hear, why dont you just give them what they want, especialy if you stay far away from it.
see when i have an opinion i have arguments that leads me to it, i am not rabid in my bias, but very much pragmatic.

You get them in all threads but you only have to look back through and see some of the comments to know what I was talking about.

Whats this thread got to do with Fanboys?? What so just because I disagree with Gibbo or the Thread link am now a Fanboy? Grow Up Greg

Does someone who is psychotic know that they are psychotic?

Another thing which i think is a little unfair on Nvidia is that the lack of stock thing can only really be aimed at custom cards as FE cards have been readily available pretty much from day 1 and right now you can pick up a FE very easily. i don't agree with the FE pricing shenanigans but if you wanted a 1080/1070 you have been pretty much been able to buy one easily since a few days after launch.

Has it ever been the case that every single different custom version of a new card was available at launch with ample stock?

I mean the RX480 isn't having ANY custom cards available at launch according to gibbo so....

yes the lack of stock is irritating but there are a LOT of custom versions and to expect every version to be in stock at launch is a bit silly.

I've being saying this since launch, 1080 launch beat 970 launch and is still way ahead.

Pascal is Nvidia's tenth GPU and its there biggest performance leap in a long time, 1.5x quicker a lot of games compared to Titan X and 2x quicker in VR, for a card which can be had around £550 from OcUK is why it's such a raging success. Also VR and Vive being in stock is really helping accelerate sales!!! :)

I've seen ti said in more than one place on the net that Fudzilla's source for this article is you Gibbo :P

It's not directly but I speak to all AIBs is n a world wide level, I even help with design for some brands and I talk with a lot of PR guys so yes a lot of info can indirectly come from myself. :)

Its not though is it? Ignoring max overclocks the PERFORMANCE list is as follows at stock speeds.

980 Ti -> 1080 = 31.8%
980 -> 980 Ti = 25.3%
980 -> Titan X = 31.2%
680 -> 780 Ti ≈ 50.3%
680 -> Titan ≈ 36%

Overclocking out of the box there is an argument to say the 980ti > 1080 gap is smaller and the 980 > 980ti is much bigger.

I know some could be argued as mid range and some top of the range etc but just working on the basis as each new card is the fastest then the above stands.

Adjusted for oc the 980 to 980ti is a bigger leap than the 980ti to 1080

But i suspect that all the VR and more and more people having 1440p high Hz screens and 4k screens is pushing demand for more performance.

The 780ti was and still is the biggest single leap. Even tested today in the latest games is still only about 6% slower than a 980.

shouldn't the 680 be compared with a 780 in those standings?

I understand not everyone who buys post on a fourm. But these things do happen and to what is being said has sold vs the honour thread it would be much bigger than 60 people.

Shankly, there were more people on the 1080 ROH after 3 weeks than the Fury ROH after a year.

Have you not seen how many 980Ti are for sale or have sold on the Bay recently? What are those people upgrading to?
