The Golf Club

Picked this up yesterday. Other pitching etc round the green when you need to hit the ball 1/4-1/2ish power im enjoying it greatly.

Not quite in the old microprose golf class but better than the last EA offering I played.

Picked this game up yesterday and loving it. I tried a build from earlier this year and wasn't overly impressed, it still felt very much like a beta, but now I'd say it isn't far off retail. There's a bit that needs to be done here and there, more graphics options would be nice, and they need to improve the optimisation, but other than that it's pretty awesome!

I'm no expert on specs but while it runs spot on on my desktop (specs in sig) it really struggles and stutters on my laptop specs as follows:

Dell XPS l702
Core i7 2630QM
4GB RAM
nVidia GT555M

I'd guess that it wouldn't run overly well on your specs tbh

*edit*

According to the Steam page here are the minimum specs:

Minimum:
OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: DX11 compatible video card with 1GB video RAM
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 2 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Recommended:
OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8
Processor: Intel Core i5 or equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia 660 or AMD 7850 w/ 2GB
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 2 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Yup, your card isn't DX11 compatible - sorry!

Picked this up last night and so far I'm really enjoying it!

Few gripes and grumbles though;

1) The slow panning of the camera to focus on your golfer is really starting to annoying me - I know you can cut it out by pressing "2" twice but it still gripes on me (especially if I'm playing badly! :p)

2) The multiplayer is fluid in that you just see your opponents ball flying around but I'd like the option to take shots in turn to make it feel more like I'm playing with someone as opposed to a "ghost" opponent! (plus it can be quite off-putting (see what I did there? ;)) when you are lining up a shot and your opponents ball flies past you!)

3) The yardage quoted for each club seems very subjective - I know the lie will affect the distance and accuracy but sometimes a fairway shot will fall way short or go miles past even if hit perfectly with no wind etc!?!?!

4) I'd like the commentary to be a little less accurate - even if it's borderline as to whether you've hit the green or fairway, the commentator get's it spot on while the ball is still in the air! (I like the "surprise" of the ball just going in or out)

5) More of a question than a point, what determines the power of the swing - is it how far you drag the club back or the speed of the forward motion??

Other than these minor gripes I'm really enjoying it! (even though I'm wildly inconsistent!! :D)

Thanks Stevie

My PC man has a GTX460 card, he says we may have to change power pack.
£45.00 for the card fitted, £30.00 forthe power pack if needed
All fitted
I do know this guy has done bits for me before

I think this sound ok.
Do you?

Well depends what you want to do. Probably pick up something newer on eBay cheaper than that though. It's easy enough to do yourself as well

Hmm, I hit a ball into a water hazard from the tee and had to take the tee shot again even though there was nothing to indicate out of bounds so it was a water hazard. I should have been able to take a drop.

Well the pay day purchase has happened, and I like this game, glad I bought it.

Played 4 rounds so far with my best being -2 after 18 holes. Putting takes a bit of getting used to though, but I'm getting better.

The 2-player mode is a bit odd though, as it's not really turn-about like normal. You can set it so you can see the other persons shot, but they've already taken their shot by the time you watch it.

My spec has now changed to

The PC will run on it on low settings at 720p - probably around 30fps as a guess.

We are all hoping for a big optimisation and graphical improvement on official release.

At the moment on high settings, it looks like a console game.
