I'm so so glad I got Amazon Prime worth every penny  this new show The GT is simply brilliant :D:D:D even the wife enjoyed it.

I would say Amazon 3 - BBC 0

++ I didn't realise amazon prime tv has so many good shows on it
The Man in the High Castle
Vikings
The 100
Sons of Anarchy
Preacher
The Americans
Bosch
Alpha House

To name just a few

I took advantage of Amazon Prime being knocked down in price and will hopefully be watching this when I get back from work! Rather looking forward to it :)

Well that is a fair point isn't it? It requires more effort than just turning on BBC 2.

Yes it does but it misses the point that online streaming is certainly the future among the younger generation. I, and most of my friends and family, watch Netflix and Amazon now and rarely watch much actual TV (including Sky).

A few years ago maybe. With the penetration of Smart TV I think people don't even associate it with the internet anymore. Turn on the TV, select the 'Amazon channel' as my 74 year old dad calls it, and watch.

Some bits weren't that good to me. The messing on with celebrities was fine, but hopefully it's either the end of having them on all the time and only having decent ones. The American communist stuff was funny at first, but it better not be done over and over.

The car side and what looked to be some excellent cocking about was excellent.

If you have a Smart TV. And a subscription.

I'm not saying it's hard but surely everyone can appreciate that the delivery method is going to mean no matter how good it is it'll reach less people.

It's great. excellent first episode.

This is what the BBC Top Gear should have always been, but BBC censorship toned it down.

Hammond dropping the S bomb?! This new TG has a new lease of life

Edit*

One thing is pretty obvious I think, the camera crew must surely be the same? There's a very distinct signature to the cinematic and camera work in GT, that was missing in the Evans TG. Did Amazon pinch the crew too I wonder.

Hammond was just on Radio 5 saying the crew are the same but the production team are new.

I recently bought a 4k tv and it was awesome on that!!.... Really really enjoyed that episode and cant wait for the rest! - Not having to wait till a set time to watch it was a bonus too... i like that!!!

That was pretty good, it did seem very strange without the Top Gear theme tune.

Assuming it kept a constant rate throughout I made it around 8gb for the 4k stream. It will be interesting if this causes any issues tonight when a couple of million people start streaming it.

Come December their potential viewing numbers for first broadcast go from 64 million to 5 billion(ish) and they go from being shown in 20ish countries to 200.

Will be interesting to see the numbers if Amazon release them but I'd be amazed if they can't beat the 5-6 million they were seeing on the BBC.

That was almost almost spot on. Thought they dragged out the intro for far too long, and the celebrity non-section was just a waste of air-time.

The rest of it though...

This is my own opinion, of which no one will be interested :D

Things I liked:

- 'Banter' - I hate that word.
- Production quality.
- Certain jokes.
- Segment on the M2 (even though he basically said "It's good" and drifted it lots).

Things I didn't like:

- They were in America, but the entire episode main feature was filmed in Portugal?
- Celebrity deaths was cringe worthy.
- I'm not a fan of their track.
- Communist joke got boring after a while.
- I understand that it's scripted, but at points it didn't feel very natural.

Let's see how the next few episodes pan out.
