The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Got my 980Ti today from Ocuk, very impressive service as always. Went for the Inno3D Air Boss Ultra X4 and omg what a beast it is, this card is huge and very well put together, has very cool glowing red led's. Thought it wasn't gonna fit in my case but after a bit of fiddling around its in and working fine. Currently idling at 26/27c with 37% fan and is totally silent. My R9 290 Msi Gaming is a big card but this is a monster. Will put it through its paces over the next few days, so far so good. :D

Anyone with the regular amp edition getting the fan issue? Apparently electrical noise can trigger the fans to pulse up and down in speed. I thought this was just an issue with th extreme card, some user reviews have noticed it in the amp edition card as well.

I wish my case looked as tidy as that does. Would love to remove the hdd caddies in my Define R3 (If they weren't non-removable of course) but having 5 HDDs and 3 SSDs in there that wouldn't work :) Just as well my case doesn't have a window.

Toss up for me between the zotac amp on offer at the mo or the msi gaming, was gonna go for the strix but not at that markup.

3 90mm fans vs 2 100mm fans. hmm
The msi simply doesn't make noise. Its quieter than an aio cooled fury x. Fan at 80% when overclocked. Still cant hear it. Downside, you notice other fans/components are loud because they were previously masked by loud idle gpu fan noise.

I bought zotac amp because the difference between MSI back then was 100£. With a 50£ difference I would go now with MSI, reviews from people on forum (like above one) are really good about the cooling/fans.

In my setup I start hearing zotac at 40%, at around 75% (gaming) it's quite loud to me.

So this is the best I can get. With 100% fans I keep 1452 on the boost. with a few random drop downs.

Its the power limit that worries me, I've maxxed i to 109%. But I'm not sure if this is a bad sign or not as a daily config. The 3 utilisation drops represent in between races on pcars. cali full then reverse, then 3 laps of monza.

pcars is the most demanding game I have at the moment.

Since 3 of you have now mentioned it I've moved the soundcard lol

Also the GPU was sagging because I forgot to add the thumb screws to the pcie bracket :o, although I would love that custom bracket I mentioned earlier in this thread.

If Kaap gets time can he change to this pic? ;)

Looks good. Nice and tidy.

Tubes on the H55 look pretty short (10.5 inches I believe), don't think I can get them from the vga to the top of the luxe.
Kraken X41 would be long enough, but costs almost twice as much.

EDIT: X31 will do.

Thanks. If only you knew the problems I had installing it

I originally wanted the radiator at the front of the case as an intake but the tubes weren't long enough.

Then I tried to fit it on the roof but it wouldn't go there as I had a Cryorig air cooler and it got in the way.

I then tried fitting it at the back but it was an extremely tight fit and the CPU cooler would be blowing warm air straight into it (not ideal). Luckily I had a H100i in the cupboard (was an RMA replacement from a long time ago I never used). Fitting that allowed me to place the H55 at the back of the case as an exhaust.

I think Corsair should consider making the tubes longer especially for use with their cases, i'm not talking by much, maybe 3 inches more. AIO GPU coolers are getting more popular ever since people have moved on from the old rubber band brackets :p

Edit - Thanks Kaap

I agree, NZXT 31/41/61 are all longer. I'm actually surprised they don't do something specific for gpus to bundle with the G10.
Would like to know the lenght of ocuk asetek ones.

Ordered one, hopefully going sli in a few weeks. :) Should also go well with my red and black theme.

Yes I am getting the exact same issue - I am replacing mine with a G10 so it isnt a concern but it is very odd. Also for fun if you ramp the fan up, the clock speed drops as it hits the power limit on the default BIOS (doesnt on a modded BIOS though).

I totally agree.

Opps lol it was a picture but im guessing i didn't lock my phone before putting it in my pocket -_-.

(best i could do on my phone, a lot of glare)

Quick question for you all - I'm still pretty new to the green side so need some clarification here, does the G1 980 ti start to throttle at around 60-62 degrees? a quick google suggested this somewhere but wasnt 100%, reason I ask is because I noticed my max boost clock dropped by 12 mhz (nothing serious but still a drop) when whirling around in Diablo 3 just now, my temp had just hit 61-2 degrees, I banged my fan speed up to 100% (I had afterburner open on a second screen as I had recently begun to belief the card did so) and whatta know within a few seconds my temp dropped to 59 degrees and my max boost restored to its higher value and continued to do so through the whole rift I was doing.
So I loaded a quick render and put my fans on auto as opposed to my curve profile, and as soon as my card hit 60 my overclock dropped by the same 12 mhz - so it is looking like the card starts to throttle to some degree at 60+ degree but I wanted to see if other have the same issue or do I have an unstable overclock?
