The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

The msi simply doesn't make noise. Its quieter than an aio cooled fury x. Fan at 80% when overclocked. Still cant hear it. Downside, you notice other fans/components are loud because they were previously masked by loud idle gpu fan noise.
MSI Gaming any good for SLi or it going to suffer from the custom cooler with the top card struggling to get airflow?

Cards with coolers like these are always gonna affect the top card. Thats the one down side to third parties all seemingly going the dual\triple fan cooler route.

Really comes down to how much it affects it by, roughly 10c or thereabouts seems to be normal.

If you have enough slots between cards i think getting one of those pci exhaust fans in the middle of both cards so it sucks the rising hot air out of the case could help with temps. Would need to be reversed though as they all seem to face upwards instead of downwards.

Hmmm.. Ok, still trying to make my mind up if a custom massive O/C single card might do me for long enoung or just bite the bullet and go with SLi reference cards. I'm coming from 2 x 7970s at 2560x1440p at the moment which a single 980ti would beat (and be a single card, no more xfire profiles) but tempted to go to 3440x1440 ultra wide screen soon which seems to be borderline for a single card if I want the detail at ultra.

Was hoping to move away from multi card but I think the answer is going to be stick to either 1440p and go for top end custom 980ti or go 3440x1440p and accept I'm going to need SLi to get he best out of it.

It's a lame bios setting which many (if not all) custom Ti have. Mine does it to. It does go away with a custom bios (or with an AIO lol), but as you say it's just 12Mhz.

It is just 12mhz - but will it get worse if i let it get to say 70? Atleast I can rest easy now its a bios setting and not a borked card, been planning on watercooling anyways in the not too distant future so maybe this will force my hand eh :P lol

And here I am with this great card, fed up with W3 (must have played for like 200 hours) and GTA Online, wondering what's the point of all this power now? Backlog time :p
Don't even want to bother with Arkham Knight until it actually comes out.

Should I use a custom bios for OCing my MSI 6G with 63% asic, or is it unnecessary?

Just see what you can get with the stock voltage, you should get at least to 1400! It's free performance, why stop!

As above really. See what you get on stock.

I'm bench stable at 1480-1500.

Games stable at roughly 1420.

Shame as my asic is 70.3 I thought id get more. Just get nvlddmkm errors fast, very little artifacting.

Still 1400 is still blistering quick...and just toys with me to get another :-)

Here a question. Got my 980ti connected to a single block connector from my superflower 1300.

The GPU PSU cable has an 8pin and the another 8pin daisy chained off it.

Should I actually be using seperate connections?

My psu has the same connectors, I don't think they would bundle them on decent PSUs if that could be a problem. :o

Yeah, these gpus can be deceptive on stability. I can bench and play many games over 1500, but there are some games that won't have it, like bf4 or batman.

Might have 1495 game stable, but that with the 1.274v bios mod.

Think without that bios I likely would be around 1450 max game stable.
