The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

See I was tempted to cancel my order too and buy a 970/290x and just play at 1080p/1440p but then the whole purpose of my new PC/monitor is to play games at 4k so kind of pointless for me to go for a 970/290x after spending so much money already.

I'm hoping I can sell the 980ti when Pascal comes out for £200-£250 and just pay whatever difference for a good 4k card.

I have a 970, and run at 1080p and have decided to upgrade to a 980ti. The 970 is a very good card, but it starts to show its limits with all of these newer games. Crisis 3 with everything on ultra suffers below 60fps with a 970, Withcher 3 is the same.

Everyone seems to think that these higher end cards are pointless for anything less than 1440p or 4K and it is simply not true. 980ti even at 4K still struggles with the newer games, getting on average 40-50fps. I don't want 40-50, I don't want 55-59, I want a full 60+ Fps and if buying a 980ti just to play at 1080p achieves that goal, then it more than justifies the price point in my opinion.

FTR, the 980 would do the same, but a TI is only £50-100 more expensive and can sometimes offer upto 30% increased performance.

Yeah true, plus the 980ti is full Directx12 and VR ready.

To be fair the 980ti does well at 4k, obviously not always 60+ fps, but with a few tweaks to settings then I don't see 60fps as impossible.

Some people don't mind playing at 40+ fps either, I don't think I'd mind playing at that frame rate, but I also don't mind lowering a few settings to achieve 10+ fps

Directx12 will be interesting and maybe that will make 4k gaming even better with the Titan X/980ti

I ordered an EVGA ACX and have been told by many members on this forum (and in different threads) that I could be waiting upto a month at least. Which one did you go for?

Is there any proof of this though or just rumours?

A few other retailers say they'll get stock of that model this week so I don't see how it will be a month for OCUK.

Well these are just rumours though I an entitled to believe them since I only ordered yesterday. First came first served and all that.

If you ordered early and what you say is true, chances are yours should be dispatched sometime this week then :)

If you only just ordered yesterday then maybe that is true since this is the most popular model of the 980ti, last time (on Friday) I asked they had 70 orders for that model alone and apparentely EVGA are very random with their deliveries and can send anything from 3-5 cards to 100+ (which I find stupid, I don't understand that lol)

Well i'll be hoping for the latter then lol

It is confusing, I am new to all this of this pre-order nonsense, but I would think many of you have been here before, i'd of thought you would all be use to this kind of wait and have some idea of what position means when in terms ETA. I guess not.
